Cleveland roofer, homeowner resolve problem with leaky roof

Member complaint

I hired The Siding & Insulation Company of Cleveland to replace my roof, install new siding and gutters and blow insulation into my house walls. I’ve been dealing with them for almost a year about a water leak that shows up on the walls of the furnace chimney when it rains. They have replaced the chimney flashings twice, and it still leaks.

They said the problem was with my chimney, and it needed tuckpointing and water-sealed. I had two chimney professionals inspect it, and they both told me there are no issues with my chimney. I never had this issue with my roof or chimney until the day the new roof was installed.

I called the company owner again, and he said he’d send someone to fix it. A month later, the leak remained. I called the owner, and he said the person he was sending to fix it cut his finger, and would be there when he healed.

The wood on my roof and materials in my finished attic get wet every time it rains. Cracks in my ceiling are appearing due to water damage. I can’t believe the company can’t send another guy to fix the issue. They don’t seem to care about warranty service after they cash the check.

I want the roof fixed, and the damaged materials in my attic replaced.

Provider response

We have tried to resolve this matter by replacing the ridge vent three times and the chimney flashing two times. We are at a loss as to why this is still an issue.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
