Chicago painting crew impresses ardent DIYer
Some homeowners perform DIY projects to save money or as a hobby. Angie’s List member Edward D. tends to do his own work because he knows he’s hard to please.
“I don’t want the disappointment at the end and to still have to pay someone for their service,” he says in a Pages of Happiness-nominated review. “My usual experience is no one is going to put the love into something like you can put in on your own stuff.”
Edward says that wasn’t the case when he contacted highly rated R & R Custom Painting of Bolingbrook, Illinois, to paint the exterior of his home in Plainfield, Illinois. Shortly after [owner] Ralph Hujar arrived to assess the job and provide an estimate, the contractor impressed Edward enough to give him the $1,600 job.
“He pointed out a few things, and after that, I could tell he really knew his stuff,” Edward says. Although Edward had to wait four weeks before Hujar and his crew could begin the job, Edward says he didn’t mind. “My experience [is that] anything you wait for is usually worth it,” he says.
When R & R completed the job, Edward says his careful inspection revealed that the workers were generous with the paint, and they removed the address numbers, downspouts and shutters instead of painting around them.
“I would recommend them all day long!“ Edward says.
