Chicago Home Remodeling Company Joins Fight Against Breast Cancer

For one Chicago home remodeling company, October isn’t just another month on the construction season calendar.

Highly rated Archway Construction in Lincoln Park is using October, also known as Breast Cancer Awareness month, to help raise money to battle the disease in a pretty unique way.

According to online marketing manager Lindsey Schroeder, the company will make a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society for every free in-home services consultation they deliver to potential clients through Friday, Oct. 31.

Schroeder says the company organized its fundraiser as a way of recognizing the disease's widely felt effects. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and it is the second leading of cause of death among women, according to the National Breast Cancer Center

“We decided to jump at the chance to do something for breast cancer awareness month because of the importance of this cause,” Schroeder says. “I am personally affected by breast cancer as my aunt is a breast cancer survivor, and I am sure there are others in the company that have been affected by it in some way, as well.”

This is the first year the company has conducted the fundraiser, and Schroeder says they are hoping for success on a couple of levels.

“… Anything we can do to help raise awareness and donate to the cause is a plus, and a win-win for both us and our customers,” she says. “We haven't tried this before but are hopeful that the importance of the cause will get people interested in pulling the trigger on their home improvement projects.”

Archway Construction has been in business since 1987 and specializes in remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, siding, trim, windows, doors, roofing, dormers, porches, decks, tuck pointing, basements & attics.
