Charlotte pool service makes dying man's dream come true
Before he passed, Gene Nelson wanted to sit and watch his pool. Nelson had another last wish: key lime pie. So, Cope contacted Lauren Jakubek, a Charlotte pastry chef, who agreed to make the pie for free. "These people made his dreams come true," Cope says. "It showed me there's so much kindness out there. They had no idea who the guy was. It's like the angels were working with me to get it done."

Member Comments "A friend of mine had a terminal illness and was given up to three months to live. One of the things he wanted to do most was sit on his deck and just look at the pool. I gave A to Z a call and spoke with Rod [Sandy, the owner]. I explained the circumstances and asked they open the pool but send the invoice to me. Rod thought it would be Monday before they could get to it, but called back to say he had arranged for it to be done the next day. Thanks to A to Z, my friend was able to spend some of his last days as he wished."
