Charlotte pediatrician helps girl avoid stroke
Karen Johnston says one Charlotte pediatrician saved her daughter from a potential stroke.
Dr. Sharon Sullivan and Kim Blevens, physician assistant, of highly rated Arboretum Pediatrics in Charlotte, N.C., worked tirelessly to diagnose symptoms that eventually led to an arterial blood clot in her daughter's brain.
"They kept the lines of communication open with me, even providing cell phone numbers, as we tried together to understand the cause of my daughter's unusual symptoms," Johnston says. "They persisted in contacting colleagues in specialized areas of care and in having tests done to get a diagnosis, even when my daughter was given the 'all clear' twice at the hospital."
Johnston says it was this persistence and individualized care that saved her daughter's life.
"Had it not been for these two professionals, my daughter, at the age of 10, would have suffered a major stroke incident that would have significantly changed her life," Johnston says.
Sullivan is now Johnston's Charlotte pediatrician of choice.
"I just love the care my daughter gets at Arboretum Pediatrics," she says.
