Charlotte masonry contractor considered an artist
Approximate Cost: $2,700
Description of Work: I saw someone else's review that referenced Chris [Shropshire, president] as an artist, and I have to agree! Chris from Homeplace completed the tear out of an existing, wood front porch, including two wood supporting columns. He placed pressure-treated posts to support the porch roof while the work was being done. He completed the build up of a structural foundation (porch floor) that consisted of cinder blocks, gravel and concrete. He installed a brick, perimeter foundation, including a brick rowlock that essentially surrounds the main porch floor (bluestone slate) like a picture frame.
Member Comments: I cannot say enough about Chris. He was a pleasure to have around, and his work is meticulous. He is extremely patient and detailed with his work. He works quietly and diligently. He performed the work exactly when he said he would for exactly how much he said he would, even though he ran into additional, unforeseen material costs along the way.
The brick work he completed is absolutely perfect. He was able to match existing brickwork in my 1930s craftsman-style home. The work he did to cut the bluestone/flagstone slate to form a new porch floor is immaculate and gorgeous! In addition to his work being aesthetically pleasing, it is extremely solid and structurally sound. I was very impressed by all the foundation and support work that Chris did to create the new porch foundation. I highly recommend Chris.
