Capitol Heights remodeler solves sunroom dispute
I hired Remodel USA of Capitol Heights, Md., to engineer plans for an elevated 14 foot by 23 foot sunroom. They built the sunroom and improved on plans by beefing up the floor for the large span. They displayed outstanding integrity, answered all my concerns and gave me a tremendous sunroom-building experience.
However, less than three months after the project was completed, they failed to honor their warranty with regard to window scratches detected by the owner and confirmed by their subcontractor. The scratches were exterior ones possibly caused by the window manufacturer. The company said several times they’d replace the window, even though I asked for a credit. These were empty promises only to be fulfilled if I rehired the company to renovate my bathrooms. Every time I discussed the window situation, they tried to sell me the bathroom renovations.
I want a $230 refund or a replacement window.
Michael Mihalakelis, Annandale, Va.
The replacement window is ordered, and the completed installation will occur in three weeks.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
