Business traveler, Austin limo service disagree about payment terms

Member complaint

I hired Endeavor Limousines & Chauffeured Services of Austin to take me from Pflugerville, Texas, to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. We agreed to a price of $80.

I asked the limousine driver for a receipt because I was taking a business trip. She said she didn’t have anything to write with. I wrote my email address and gave it to her so the company could send me a receipt. I gave her a $20 cash tip. I never received a receipt.

Later, I noticed that $96 was debited to Endeavor Limousine from my bank account. I emailed the company for an explanation and received a reply that it’s customary to add a 20 percent gratuity.

I mentioned that I gave the driver a gratuity and demanded they return the overcharge. They said they would investigate and get back to me. They never did, and now they have stopped answering my emails. I want a $16 refund.

Provider response

Our company investigated the client’s inquiry and found that our staff complied with our normal processes. We followed up with the client about our findings several times, but he wasn’t satisfied with our conclusion.

The email confirmation we sent the member clearly states that gratuity is added. Our drivers don’t issue written receipts at the time of service. We responded to the member several times, but informed him after he threatened us that we would no longer respond.

Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
