Bus vs. car: An Indian Head Park resident’s auto repair story
Angie’s List member Patrick Duffy of Indian Head Park, Illinois, says he was sitting in his office at work on a Tuesday afternoon when he saw the accident happen.
He happened to be looking out his office window to the narrow street where he parked his car that morning when he saw a school bus sideswipe his 2012 Honda Accord.
Duffy says he quickly ran outside to find dents and a broken side view mirror on the front driver’s side of his car.
“The bus hit my car on a really tight street,” Duffy says. “Then, [the driver] backed up and hit my car even more. It was just an unfortunate incident. The driver felt really bad about it.”
Duffy says the school district’s insurance provided the names of a few local auto service centers, and he then went to Angie’s List to check their reviews.
Duffy weighed his options and decided to hire Chicago-based Erie-LaSalle Body Shop from the insurance company’s list of approved Honda repair centers in the area.
Though Duffy’s options were limited, he was pleased with Erie-LaSalle. He says they made the experience easy for him, from providing a quick estimate of $3,200 to coordinating with the insurance company for the repairs and arranging for a rental car while he left his car at the shop.
Erie-LaSalle replaced the driver’s side mirror and front fender and performed body work on the driver’s side door.
According to Duffy, Erie-LaSalle worked quickly to repair his car. He says they returned it looking brand new about one week after the accident occurred.
