Broken table attributed to Boston moving company

COMPLAINT: Kristen Welch, Zionsville, Ind.

"Isaac's Relocation Service moved furniture from my parents' house in Massachusetts to mine. When my dining table arrived, the top was broken in two pieces.

"I purchased insurance for the shipment, but they denied my claim. They said the table was already in a weakened condition. There was a crack already there, but it's at the opposite end of the table [from the break].

"It's a solid wood table."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like Isaac's to give me $1,050, the amount I paid to repair the table."

RESPONSE: Paula Moyal, customer service, Isaac's Relocation Service

"When the table came into our possession, its poor, weakened condition was noted by the movers on the inventory.

"Upon arrival at the member's residence, it was noted the table further deteriorated. We can't honor a claim for this piece due to its poor pre-move condition.

"It's our policy to only honor claims for new transit damage."
