COMPLAINT: Jason Webb, Melrose, Mass.
"I hired R & R Battista Services Inc. to fix a leak in the bathroom sink and they recommended installing a new faucet. When the plumber came over to install it, he shattered the sink pedestal. They came back a second time with a new sink but the pedestal was defective.
On the third visit, they didn't check to see if it worked after the installation and it leaked. Finally on the fourth visit, they fixed it. Everything ended up OK, but it was a headache. They could've followed up after the initial problem and prevented at least one of the visits through better testing of their work."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to credit me the 5 percent Angie's List discount."
COMPLAINT: Jeanie Leung, Melrose, Mass.
"I hired Pat Golini, owner of Golini Builders, to renovate two bathrooms. Both bathrooms were to receive a 27-inch vanity that the contractor measured. The problems began when the vanities arrived. He asked me if the doors were full overlay doors, because if they were, they wouldn't fit. I told him to break the walls so they'd fit.
He said he would but I'd have to pay him. I told him I wouldn't pay for his mistake. He said a solution would be to cut the wall on the right side, but I said no, because the countertop wouldn't be centered with the vanity. He suggested I return the 27-inch vanities, pay the 25 percent restocking fee and buy 24-inch vanities. He then walked out on the job."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'm requesting a $1,600 refund."
