Billing mishap prompts Waxhaw garbage collection complaint
COMPLAINT: Deborah Barton. Waxhaw, N.C.
"I used God Bless The USA for my garbage collection service. Their invoices are confusing, misleading and often duplicated, which led to my overpaying.
"Three months into the contract, they started billing me for twice-weekly service, while picking up only once. By the time I discovered the error, I'd overpaid $174.
"It took several e-mails and phone calls before they admitted their error. The owner agreed to pay back the $174, but only after verification in the form of an e-mail that the $174 was a full and complete settlement for all matters relating to any and all of my disputes.
"I refused to respond to this bullying and consequently, I haven't received the $174. Three months after canceling the contract, I received an invoice for $70."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to refund the $174 and pick up their trash bin. I also want them to stop sending invoices for services not rendered."
COMPANY RESPONSE: Erik Blowers, president, God Bless the USA
"We've been requested to resolve this claim three times. We have gone by the home two times to pick up our cart, but each time the cart wasn't out for collection. We told her we would pay the $174 when we collected our cart.
"We've tried to resolve this. This is far from an accurate sequence of events. We will send $150 today to their home. They will receive the rest once the cart is returned or they call our office to tell us when it can be collected.
"They must have the cart out when we come to collect it. We offered to refund their money and give them free service, but the customer declined."
