Best Los Angeles Contractors of 2010

CGS Electric | Huntington Beach, Calif.

Making the national Best Contractors List the past three years, owner Claudio Sanchez is in a class by himself. "I enjoy meeting new customers and building relationships," says the four-time Super Service Award winner and state-licensed electrician. "When the customers smile, I know they're satisfied."

Jeana Garcia of Hacienda Heights, Calif., says Sanchez cares about his customers — despite the hourlong drive to her house.

"I've hired him several times and his work is always flawless," she says. "Once, he went next door and repaired a fixture for my elderly neighbor."

Members also report Sanchez is kind to their pets. Jack Roth of Huntington Beach says he wishes he knew more people like Sanchez, who was nominated for the Pages of Happiness 19 times this past year. "Claudio's approach and attitude make him stand out," Roth says.

UMC Appliance Repair | Burbank, Calif.

Dave Williams of Tujunga says he wasn't sure what to do when his A/C broke last summer. Fortunately, he called UMC Appliance Repair owner Yurik Khudanyan. "Yuri came out at 7 p.m. and was nothing short of great," Williams says. "There was no 'after hours' fee, either."

Khudanyan, who was nominated 18 times for the Pages of Happiness, says being honest with his customers is most important. "My philosophy is to treat others as I'd like to be treated," he says. "It's what drives me."

Khudanyan has a state contractor's license and is certified with the Environmental Protection Agency, offering Energy Star products whenever possible. Amy Blume of San Fernando says his honorable work ethic impressed her. "He's very conscientious," she says "He didn't charge me for a simple repair on my thermostat. He's fabulous."
