Best Las Vegas Contractors of 2012
Campbell’s Appliance Service | Henderson, Nev.
David Campbell’s parents started this family business in 1976. After growing up working in the business, he and his brother Paul each took over part of the company in 1998. “I have a gift for it,” says Campbell, whose work requires no license. “No matter what else I wanted to do, nothing else to me was as great as doing this.”
Today, his 18-year-old son is one of four employees, and he says they try to live up to the same standards that kept the family in business by offering a trustworthy option in an industry plagued by negative perceptions. Campbell’s also provides free appliance repair services to the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City, and they repair or recycle as many appliances or parts as possible.
Cynthia Usher has called Campbell’s many times to fix a various appliances, from high-end European models in her Las Vegas home to more standard pieces in rentals she owns. Not only are the techs always kind to her two Great Danes, but she says they‘ve been honest when she can replace them for less. “After six jobs with David, I’ve gotten to the point where I can call him, tell him what’s wrong and I know he’ll take care of it,” she says.
All In Installations | Las Vegas
Carol Brock of Las Vegas keeps All In owner Vinny Duggan on speed dial to help with everything from programming her remote controls to setting up TV streaming. “If I have anything I need installed, I’ll call him,” says Brock, who filed one of the company’s 18 Page of Happiness nominations in the past year. “He’s so nice and explains everything.”
Duggan went into the home theater and stereo business after moving to Vegas from Florida, where he owned a landscaping company. After working with other local electricians, he found he enjoyed untangling the theater and stereo problems customers presented. “I can take a rat’s nest [of cables] and make it look as good as a million-dollar painting,” he says. He works with a licensed electrician and also holds a Clark County handyman license.
Anytime Locksmith | Las Vegas
A teen romance introduced Adam Saab to locksmithing when a girlfriend’s father taught him the trade. The relationship didn’t last, but his love for the work did. After earning a license, he opened Anytime in 2001. He’s spent recent months volunteering to help city officials expose unlicensed scam locksmiths. “Our job is very technical; it has to be precise to be correct,” says Saab, who recycles old locks and metal shavings.
Angie’s List member Mai Lykins hired Saab to rekey her new home in the Green Valley/Henderson area. “Adam is a remarkable man who’s very personable, knowledgeable, professional and gave me great advice!” Lykins wrote in her Page of Happiness nomination — one of 11 received last year.
