Baltimore computer repair shop doesn't fix PC's problems
COMPLAINT: Wis Huey, Ellicott City, Md.
"Geeks On Call [Baltimore] built a PC for me to the tune of $1,550 in 2003, but it has never performed properly. It was shutting down spontaneously and, in spite of running an up-to-date virus program, it finally refused to start at all this past year.
Couch Cut Lawn Service
Hasn't responded to Stephen Lee's request to replace the boxwood shrubs he says died after they planted them. Second month in the box.
Geeks On Call
Failed to address Wis Huey's request to fix the computer he purchased from them that he says spontaneously shuts down. First month in the box.
"I arranged for Geeks On Call to come out, and when the technician arrived he was unable to sort it out. He took the tower back to the shop, then called and indicated the hard drive was shot and had to be replaced. He returned the PC and all seemed OK at first, until I started getting 'floppy disc fail' messages and experienced cursor and hourglass freezes.
"After a few weeks, it had spontaneous shut downs and other problems. When I was unable to access my old information, and realized I only had 30-gigabytes of free space after a new 80-gigabyte hard drive had been installed, I e-mailed the technician. He attempted to help but couldn't. I phoned the franchise owner and the best she could offer was to sell me a service plan, indicating the problems might not be related to their work. She refused to make another visit at their expense. The PC is unusable."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a $1,600 refund to cover the cost of the computer and service calls or one more attempt to get it fixed (at no charge) with a 60-day guarantee."
