Auto repairs don't last for Indianapolis car owner

Auto repairs don't last for Indianapolis car owner

COMPLAINT: Karen L. Ciambrone, Indianapolis

"My Volvo V70 broke down in the middle of an intersection. I had it towed to Pete's Service Center [in Indianapolis], as I'm new to Indianapolis and they were the only place I knew of that worked on Volvos.

"My car was dropped off Sunday night and I didn't get it back until late Wednesday. They didn't stay in touch to let me know its status, so I constantly had to call them.

"When I did speak to them, they kept telling me they didn't really know what was wrong, but that they needed to replace this, that and the other thing. However, those replacements were no guarantee.

"So, more than $700 later, I picked up my car, again under their directions of, "We don't know if this will fix the problem or not." I drove the car from Pete's on Pennsylvania Avenue to my house, approximately 3 miles away.

"The next morning, less than a mile from the house, the car broke down again. I had it towed to my house and called Pete's. Instead of trying to work with me to get it fixed, all they really had to say was, "We told you we weren't sure what we did would fix the problem."

"So, my car sits broken in my driveway as I refuse to take it back to them and pay another $700 to have it break down again."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I request reimbursement for half the total expense [of the repairs]."

STATUS: Penalty Box
