Atlanta woodworker brings furniture design to vivid life
Ashley Jankowski of Acworth runs a small creative design and branding firm from her home office, and occasionally has clients in for meetings, so she decided to add a more finished, creative vibe to the space. She first enlisted the help of furniture designer Samantha Pattillo to design the ideal desk. “All we needed was to find a carpenter to build it,” she says.
She joined Angie’s List to find vendors for the project, and contacted Floyd Fowler, owner of highly rated The Woodchuck Woodworking in Atlanta, based on his positive reviews. “He was prompt in responding and excited about the project, and he and his partner weren’t even fazed by the tight two-week deadline,” she says. “They helped me pick out each and every board going into the desk. They emailed me updates every few days.”

She says the frequent photos provided a fascinating insight into Fowler’s work. “Floyd explained every step of the process, from planing to staining,” she says. “He was able to achieve the multicolored, weathered look we wanted by applying two different stains.”
Jankowski loved the final result, which was so large Fowler needed to deliver it in two parts and assemble it in place. “The desk has become a centerpiece to the new office space,” she says. “I’m looking forward to working with the Woodchucks again on many projects to come.”
