Atlanta window repair issue goes unresolved

Atlanta window repair issue goes unresolved

COMPLAINT: Lynn Tierney, Fairburn
"I initially hired Prestige Granite & Marble to install granite countertops in my kitchen. I also had a stovetop that they were to install.

They offered to install a sink as well. They gave me a good price for the work, but it took them too long. It took them about two weeks after they were supposed to come out to install the countertops.

This meant that I had to live without all of my kitchen appliances that are normally on the countertops because I had to clear them off for the work to be done. They gave me many excuses as to why they didn't come out.

When they finally came out to do the work, they offered a $350 discount and an 8-foot section of granite to install in another bathroom. They've finished the work but they've yet to give me the 8-foot piece of granite they offered as a consolation for taking so long to do the work.

It's been four months; they've never called me. I have to call them every time and they never return my calls. I'd like to point out that the young man who did the work was very nice and did a great job. The owner has been causing me all this trouble."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to make good on their offer to install the countertop in the bathroom."

COMPLAINT: John Lancy, Cumming
"I hired Bill Hasslock to repair an apparent wood rot issue on the frame under my foyer window. The repair appeared OK at the time, but began to fail a few months later.

I've called Mr. Hasslock multiple times to take advantage of the two-year warranty he gave me and no one has ever come to make the repair. Every time I call, he gives me a different excuse and asks me to be patient.

I think after four months it can be reasonably assumed that no repair is forthcoming."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like a refund of $650 so I can hire another contractor to do the work correctly."

RESPONSE: Bill Hasslock, owner
"The member contacted me and during the course of our conversation, he cursed at me. That's unacceptable, so I hung up the telephone.

After I received notice from Angie's List, I called the member three times. He didn't answer and I left voicemails. He didn't call, so I went to his home with my foreman. No one was home.

I couldn't see damages and so I left my card. I received no return call from the member.

My secretary called the member to make an offer to look at the alleged damage and make any valid repairs. The member apologized for cursing and refused the offer. He said he only wanted a cash refund."

STATUS: Stalemate
