Are your favorite Indianapolis summer foods causing your heartburn?
Summer in Indianapolis isn't complete without a visit to the Indiana State Fair, where you’ll be able to gorge upon delicious tenderloins, corn on the cob, elephant ears and the latest deep-fried curiosity. That's great unless you suffer from heartburn, in which case the summer eating season appears less like a celebration and more like a field full of landmines.
There are some steps you can take to avoid those land mines and turn food back into meals instead of pitfalls. Some foods can cause heartburn even when eaten in moderation. Everyone reacts differently so if you suffer from occasional heartburn, try to pinpoint the suspected cause.
Foods that are highly acidic, such as cooked tomatoes or citrus fruit, can often trigger heartburn. Garlic is another culprit for triggering heartburn, which is problematic as so often garlic and tomatoes go hand in hand for heartburn sufferers. Sufferers may want to also consider what you’re drinking as well as what you’re eating, as often caffeinated beverages, soft drinks and alcohol can all cause heartburn sufferers problems.
