The Angie’s List Experts Spring 2013 Article Contest generated hundreds of contest entries from highly rated companies from across the country.

Given the high quality of the articles contributed, selecting the winners was difficult, but three highly rated companies’ entries stood out.

Contest judges based their selections on the Angie's List Experts Spring 2013 Article Contest criteria that winning articles exhibit consumer-focused, useful information in a well-written and original way.

Grand Prize Winner (1st Place), $1,000 prize:

“It’s Not an Estimate, It’s an Interview” by Thomas Scribbins of Accent Roofing Service in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Scribbins’ article guides the homeowner through the process of obtaining estimates and selecting a contractor for what can be their biggest home repair investment: a new roof. Read the article.

First Runner Up (2nd Place), $500 prize:

“5 Slam-Dunk Spring Home Improvement Projects" by Richard Taylor of RTA Studio in Dublin, Ohio

Submitted at the peak of basketball hysteria that surrounds a certain spring collegiate basketball tourney, Taylor's article wove elements of basketball strategy with straightforward and easy-to-accomplish spring home improvement tasks. Read the article.

Second Runner Up (3rd Place), $250:

"How to Un-decorate for a Clean Slate" by Paul Livdahl of Design Q&A in Minneapolis

Under the mantra of "less is more," Livdahl's article provides step-by-step instructions to homeowners to help solve the problem of 'visual corrosion' that can frequently accumulate in older homes. Read the article.
