Anderson decorative concrete company transforms DIY disaster
When friends joked that his patio looked like it had eczema, Indianapolis member Reuben Craft says he knew it was time to repair it. “It began to chip and fade, and epoxy flakes were always being tracked into the house,” he says, adding that large cracks developed on the surface as well.
To save money, Craft opted to try a DIY method for the repair. Unfortunately, that didn’t go so well. “It was messy, toxic and ineffective,” he says. “The solvent melted the soles of my work boots.” The slovent also caused coughing and made the homeowner’s eyes water.
After the botched repair, Craft hired Create-A-Crete of Anderson, Indiana, to bring the patio back to life. For $1,700, the highly rated company stripped the surface, removed the bad epoxy job, patched the cracks, skim-coated the surface and textured the patio.
Craft says he loves the texture and the monochromatic stripe the company placed in the concrete. His cat, Salvador, does as well. “He rarely laid on the patio before, but now that it’s fixed, he loves it out there,” Craft says.
