Allure flooring provides alternative to hardwood

Allure flooring is a newer product that went onto the market about four years ago. It is comprised of a heavy duty vinyl material meant for commercial and residential use. It has the look and texture of real hardwood, tile, marble and even cork. The pattern schemes are endless.

It is easy to install and requires very little to no preparation of the underlying or existing floor. It can be laid right on top of tile, concrete and linoleum. Allure floors are also very inexpensive compared to the more expensive hardwoods and marbles. The bottom price right now is $1.99 per square foot, whereas real hardwood is $9.99.

It was designed for the do-it-yourselfer in mind and only requires tools that are already in your hardware drawer. Typical household tools will suffice. A straight edge, razor knife and a measuring tape is all you need.

This flooring system can be applied anywhere, including high traffic areas and bathrooms. It is not recommended to install in travel trailers or other outdoor areas such as patios. It is waterproof; however, it will not withstand extreme temperature changes. It can be installed in garages as long as the temperatures do not consistently exceed 95 degrees.

What makes the Allure so easy to install is how the planks are designed to be gripped together. There is an interlocking tab of adhesive that is meant to remain stuck for life on both sides and the ends of the planks. Recently they came out with a tongue and groove plank that snaps together with the same adhesive. Essentially, they stick together to each other and not onto the actual subfloor or existing floor. They simply float on top, which makes it easy to replace or tear out.

Another great thing about Allure is that it can stand up to typical abuse without denting or scuffing. Furniture and heavy appliances do not compromise this material. Also, Allure comes with a 25-year warranty. The claim is that it will not wear and will remain on the floor for at least that long.
