Albuquerque member opens up about window installation
Albuquerque, N.M. member Ragon Kinney recently hired highly rated Cardinal Construction, also of Albuquerque, for a window installation. Cardinal installed 12 large windows and 12 smaller windows to enclose a trombe wall.
Here’s what Kinney had to say about his experience:
The entire experience went very well and met all my expectations. It started with a call to Cardinal for a quote. The response was very prompt. Josh was my first contact. He came to the house and listened to my project objectives, made measurements, reviewed the product line with me and made suggestions.
A particular concern of mine was how to treat the mullion space between individual windows — whether to use metal cladding or to stucco the space between windows. I chose to stucco.
Within a few days following the initial visit, Josh provided an initial quote. I communicated questions by email and Josh responded within a day of each communication. Upon indicating that I wanted to go forward with the job, Josh and Ted Bennett, the owner, came to the house to make final measurements, window model and glazing selections and exterior frame color selection. The job schedule was discussed and a down payment was provided. Once the windows arrived at Cardinal, Josh contacted me to select a stain color for the interior window frame.
Once the interior window frame was stained, Josh scheduled an installation start date.
The Cardinal crew and Ted arrived as scheduled and confirmed the work to be accomplished. The job took about one week for window installation. Stucco work took another week, mainly for the scratch coat to cure. The job was assigned a foreman, who was my main contact, but Ted would visit periodically to ensure that the work was going as I expected. The crew was very professional and cleaned up very well at the end of each day. Upon arriving in the morning, the foreman always asked if I had any issues or concerns about the previous day’s work.
Cardinal worked with me to match the color of my existing stucco and the match was almost perfect.
The bottom line is that I am extremely pleased with the quality of the windows and their installation and I highly recommend Cardinal Construction for window replacement. They are very customer-focused and were sincerely interested in making sure I was satisfied. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process.
Ted even added value by installing my window blinds after he recommended a vendor who would resize the blinds to fit the new windows. He took the initiative to contact the shade vendor and deliver my blinds for resizing. I paid for the cost of resizing, of course, but the installation of the blinds was not in the job description and this saved me at least $150.
