Albany homeowner opts for eco-friendly composite deck construction
Member Christopher Corbett of Albany, N.Y., recently hired highly rated Forster Construction of Slingerlands, N.Y., to remove his 25-year-old deck and build a new one.
Here’s what Corbett had to say about his experience:
They removed and disposed of the old pressure-treated deck surface and replaced it with trex tiki composite. To help me stay on budget, rather than replace the existing 25-year-old-railings, they strengthened and shored up the old rail and did an excellent job of salvaging it.
They also had to customize the surround that interfaced with the above-ground pool, to allow for the winter cover. This involved extra time to level and carefully trim out the interface to maintain the necessary clearances. They also created a custom hatch to access the pool filter. Both of these steps took a significant amount of time.
They arrived on time each day and worked steadily for three days. The workmanship was excellent in every regard. I’d go so far as to say the work is meticulous and they were highly professional.
They also did work that went beyond what the contract provided for, including leveling the adjacent stairs, which was of significant value to the overall appearance of the job. The value that I received was excellent, as was all workmanship.
