4 tips for interior holiday decorating
The holiday season calls for a little sparkle and glitz around the homestead. Here are some ideas on how to turn your tinsel up a notch.
Consider your colors. If your home's year-round palette is olive green and brick red, the typically bright Christmas hues won't work. Tweak the traditional colors to a cinnamon or burgundy and dark jade.
Be sentimental. Dust off your child's handmade ornaments and give them a place of honor on the tree. Or display an old family holiday photo in the foyer — it will give guests something to talk about.
Keep it fresh. Live greenery and white flowers give any room a wintry feel. Just be sure to keep them away from any direct heat source so they don't become dried flora.
Don't forget the other rooms. When company calls, they inevitably wander from the living room into the kitchen, bathrooms or office. Tuck in a topiary or arrange a simple bowl of peppermints for a festive treat.
