Gas prices hurting contractors and consumers
Date Published: May 13 2011
When gas prices skyrocket, some contractors have no choice but to pass price increases onto customers through surcharges or in base rates. Some contractors are responding to higher gas prices by adjusting their routes, giving group rates and having their customers pre-pay so they don't have to pass that cost on. Companies that decide to add service fees or adjust costs to cover transportation should be upfront about it, and consumers should ask first about added charges before they hire.
