Matt Swales/A Better View Window Cleaning “It’s important to have your windows cleaned because windows left unclean for long periods windows are porous and mother nature the mineral from things flying around can absorb into the pores of the glass and stain it permanently or it could take costly extensive measures to get that staining out of glass. The environment that the house sits in has a lot to do with how often they may want them cleaned. If the house sits in a wooded area or near construction that is blowing dirt across on it may want their windows more cleaned more often than a homeowner whose in a more established neighborhood with not as many trees or forest near it. Cost are determined by an onsite estimate. We walk around the house determine how many upper and lower windows, how hard they are going to be to access maybe the second and even third floor windows on the house and then the actual type of window and how the framing of it is in a house all of those go into to determine what the final cost will be.”
Angie Hicks, Angie’s List founder: “When interviewing potential companies always ask about a guarantee. Many window washing companies will offer a money-back guarantee if you’re not 100% happy. Some will even offer a rain guarantee – so if it rains within a certain amount of time after the windows have been cleaned, they’ll clean them again.”
Angie’s List Tips:
- The type of cleaning solution and equipment you need varies according to the type of windows you have.
- Most homes should get a thorough window cleaning twice a year – ideally in the spring and fall.
- MONEY SAVING TIP: Clean the first floor windows yourself, leaving the second floor to a pro.
