1. Stay Hydrated
The human body is mostly water. Keeping hydrated within normal limits is always critical to overall health, and sunburns are frequently accompanied by mild to moderate dehydration.
Drinking plenty of nonalcoholic fluids is the first line of defense in treating sunburn. In a similar vein, simply bathing quietly in cool water may be enough to soothe a mild case of sunburn.
