How Angie's List works:
1. As a member, sign in to AngiesList.com to find a highly rated service company.
2. Read detailed reports on specific service companies from other members in your area.
3. Make an informed hiring decision and report your own experiences.
Oh, and service companies can't self-report or buy their way onto the List. (We get that question a lot and dedicate and extraordinary amount of time and effort to prevent it.)
Angie's List members receive:
• Access to thousands of local reports across more than 300 service categories.
• Subscription to our award-winning Angie's List Magazine. • Penalty Box to see which companies aren't pulling their weight. • Complaint resolution should a problem arise with a company.
• Coupons from highly rated service companies.
• Discounts to local museums, concerts and sporting events.

Overall: A
Price: B
Quality: A
Responsiveness: A
Punctuality: A
Professionalism: A
Cost: $125,000
Description of Work: New roof, new painting and exterior trim work, remodeled master bath, new bath.
Member Comments: If you are looking for a builder or remodeler that will cut corners, do inferior work or do things quick "just to get it done" these people are not your type. Everything is done first class with lots of communication. They will not be the cheapest, but the value you receive (appreciation, longevity, resale value, etc, etc) far surpass any reason to pay less. Also, their subs are carefully chosen and trustworthy.

Overall: F
Price: C
Quality: F
Responsiveness: D
Punctuality: D
Professionalism: F
Cost: $19,000
Description of Work: Demolition of a wall, building a new wall with a doorway, refinishing plasterwork and trim.
Member Comments: Initially the project went well. The demolition went quickly, and the construction of the new wall was completed in a mostly timely manner. But, the door in the doorway was installed backward and improperly so that it wouldn't close. Stephen actually planed away part of the door to try to make it fit into a warped doorway. The trim was not mitered or sanded. All of this work had to be redone at my own expense. Initially, Stephen was quite responsive, but once he got into work that he seemed unqualified to complete, he was unwilling to find the resources he needed to do even a passable job.
