"Tech (
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
) was prompt, professional and very informative. He was able to diagnose and fix the issue in a relatively short amount of time. He explained how a heat pump works (in
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's terms) and walked me through the heating and cooling process (I kept asking lots of questions!)."

"Fabulous! I called them that morning and sent a repairman out that morning. Overall results - After having not 1 but 2 other companies come and supposedly repairing the problem,
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the ONLY ONE that diagnosed the cause of my father's heater overheating - a dirty filter that had not been changed in over 2 years. They immediately fixed the problem AND they told us to change the filter every 6 months. Thank you!"

Greensboro area roofing company gets thumbs up

A Greensboro area roofing company and a moving company get high praise from customers. An area mechanic and wallpaper installer also get excellent reports for services rendered.

How much does it cost to install a new furnace?

Two warranties govern furnace installs. The first is the manufacturer's warranty, which comes with the furnace and protects against defects in the furnace itself. A contractor's warranty covers the labor involved to make repairs if the furnace doesn't work properly. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Wayne L. of St. Louis)

Are you thinking about installing a new furnace? The following price considerations can help you determine the best furnace for your home, and save money too.

What is a fair price for R-22?

By 2015, there will be a 90 percent reduction in the production of R-22. By 2020, it will no longer be produced at all. Because production is limited, costs to charge existing units that are leaking R-22 refrigerant have gone up and are only expected to rise. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member John R. of Lake Mary, Fla.)

Dear Angie: My air conditioning contractor just charged me $100 per pound for R-22 refrigerant. This is a lot more than I paid four years ago. Is this a fair price these days?

Which furnace filters provide the best indoor air quality?

Replacing the air filter will improve air quality and extend the life of a furnace.

Be sure to check the minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) rating when evaluating air filters. You'll also want to learn about the types of filters and what products improve your home’s indoor air quality.

"I got an estimate in the spring for heating and air for a room that had been added to a house I'd just bought. The room did not have adequate HVAC and I wanted the room to be comfortable. Other renovations took longer than expected so I didn't get back to

until

. In

, I called and asked if the estimate was still good and if it could include removal of the wall heater. I was told it was still good and that it was not a problem to include the wall heater removal. I said let's go ahead and schedule it. They refused to schedule it until I signed a contract, which they then emailed me. I got it the day before leaving on vacation and didn't have time to read it, they would not schedule a tentative date until they had a contract in hand. When I returned from vacation I looked over the contract, added the removal of the wall unit and that the unit would cool as well as heat. They had a sentence in the contract that stated that I would pay court costs if they had to take me to court for non-payment. I added a sentence that said that if I had to take them to court for non-functioning equipment or damage to my property that they would pay reasonable court costs. When they received the signed contract, we scheduled an installation date for 3 weeks out which they said was as soon as they could do it. At that time I stated I needed a signed copy of the contract, which I had altered. A week before the install date I notified them I had not yet received a signed copy of the contract. The morning of the install, I called and asked if they were coming and again stated I had not received a signed copy of the contract. I was told that
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
would be out with the contract and he was leaving right then. The workmen arrived on time but without the contract. 45 minutes later, I called and asked about the contract. I was told he had been busy but would be out with the contract. He arrived a few minutes later with the original contract that was signed and wanted me to sign it. I stated that I had altered the original, showed him the changes and said I wanted the new version signed. He said he wasn't authorized to sign it and the president of the company was out of town. I suggested he call the president and get authorization. We stopped the installation and they left. I called that afternoon to see if there was any resolution. I was told that Mr.
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
wasn't in and he would call me back the next morning. The following day I called again in the late afternoon, since he had not called me back in the morning. He was in and told me that I had been "deceptive" by altering the contract and he was done, he then hung up on me. As a result, I lost 5 plus weeks on the renovation of this house. They had had the altered contract for 3 weeks but had not bothered to get it signed or even look over it. Basically they wanted a contract that would protect them, but were not willing to sign one that protected me if they installed non-functioning equipment or caused damage to my property.

"They were prompt when I asked them to come on out to give me a quote, and they were prompt in getting the quote back to me via email. They did exactly what I asked but didn't go above and beyond. I had to be specific to what I wanted. They didn't get creative with me. I'm not going with them because their price is higher."

"Our upstair air unit was not cooling properly. We scheduled an appointment with
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
for the day after we called. The serviceman that came was professional and efficient. After replacing our freon and cleaning our outdoor units, the upstair air conditioner is actually cooling the upstairs again! Would definitely use them again."

"Rep was friendly but told me something about the cost of replacing the linesets that I was later able to determine was not accurate (he wanted to flush existing line sets rather than replace them). That was enough for me to choose the other guy. I should say that I consulted
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
because my next-door neighbor got a new system from them two years ago and were well-satisfied with the products and the service. They're probably okay, but maybe the salesman I got was a little over eager."

"Called
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
in to quote a replacement for an aging and problematic heat pump. The salesman was extremely professional and courteous, as were the installers. All staff I dealt with were very knowledgeable and helpful; no pressure in the sale, just helpful and very easy to work with. Everyone was on time for appointments, and the job was completed in one day. Work was done with excellent attention to detail and the installers took the time to show us the details of thermostat programming, filter replacement, etc. Quote was slightly higher than a competitor, but was better value given the service, professionalism, and quality of the install. I would not hesitate to highly recommend
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Stated cost is prior to rebates received from Federal Govt,

Energy, and heat pump manufacturer. Final cost approx $5500 after all rebates are accounted for.

"Heater went out on Saturday morning on a cold and snowy day. Called
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
first thing in the morning that Saturday and they had someone at my house within 2 hours. It did cost more than usual because it was a weekend, but
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was professional and speedy and completed the job within 2 hours including his drive time. Performed a fix that he said should keep the problem from occuring again without having to replace the heat exchanger, which could cost thousands of dollars. Also said that he will look up the cost of replacing the exchanger and find out if the heater was still under warranty, so that the parts would be free. Very friendly, worked quickly even though he could have made more overtime money by going slower. Now I have a nice warm house again."

"Friendly and responsive, the technicians were professional and explained what the problem was and what they were doing to fix it. I had tried to get someone out the day before (a Sunday) but
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
doesn't have emergency hours. Others never called back and on Monday morning I STILL couldn't get commitments to come out (we have an infant who couldn't sleep another night with no heat!).
Winston Salem HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
assured me they'd be out that day. Second time I've used them and another excellent job.

"I have been using their services for about nine years. We call them twice a year to change the systems over from heating to cooling and to make sure everything is running correctly. They come when they say they will and they come right away if there is an emergency. We had them install a new air conditioner for us five years ago and have had no problems since."
