"Great! A custom chimney cap was constructed based on the dimension and installed by a provider he suggested! Well worth the money!

showed up on a rainy afternoon in December to inspect the fireplaces in a house that I had just bought. Just goes to show you what the home inspector misses. Turns out in addition to a good cleaning there was missing insulation ...more in the upstairs chimney which could have resulted in an unsafe situation.
not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it that day and didn't leave a mess. It cost more than I expected but I feel like I got what I paid for. "

Industry experts recommend an annual inspection and cleaning as needed, generally every year or two depending on how much use the fireplace gets.

called when he was on the way. He was a young man who had more knowledge and experience than you might guess because he had inherited the family business. One of my fireplaces needed cleaning. The other was dirty also despite the fact that it had never been used. It turns out that in our area, a migrating bird called the ...more chimney swift will take up residence in any uncapped and unused chimney. This is a protected migratory bird, so once the bird family is living with you, it will be there to stay. If you have a cat or a dog, your pet may loose its mind over this. They can be loud. I was afraid the family would come right back this spring unless I spent more than $ 400 on a chimney cap. According to
- not necessary. Simply use the fireplace that had not been used, and they will not return. Big savings for me.
is proud to own / use a shop vac with a
filter. This eliminated any concern about soot coming into my home as well as anything in the bird droppings that may be harmful. You will not regret hiring
"Everything went great. He even called to see if I was available earlier because he could come a little earlier to do the work. He didn't take long at all and did a great job. He was very professional and personable.
I expected to have both fireplaces cleaned, but when he checked and said one of them did not yet need it, saving me about $150. He carefully cleaned my basement fireplace and was careful to keep the room clean and to clean up after himself. The basement fireplace needed a new damper. I was concerned that would require ...more as special order meaning more time and $$$ but
had one that would fit in his truck and quickly installed it for a reasonable $100 fee.
Following this appointment I realized I had some draft problems with my chimney and he took the time to talk me through possible solutions. Overall, I was very pleased and will continue to use his services. "
explained methods used when the house was built and reassured us that the chimney was well made and still in good condition. Small repairs would prepare the chimney for sale of the home. His willingness to explain options and discuss issues were greatly appreciated."
is a total professional. He has been doing this work for many years, and he has the confidence of someone with much experience. He was very careful to spread drop cloths over the floors where the fireplaces were in order to minimize the residue from soot, which I greatly appreciated. He worked hard and his work was thorough. ...more He is very friendly and courteous and seems to really enjoy interacting with the homeowner. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others, but I would offer this comment: if you have never had your chimney cleaned before, be prepared for a fine
of soot to settle on most everything in the area. I had no idea of this, and I had wished that I known so I could have covered my upholstered furniture first.
was extremely careful and did cover all the floors, but after he left, I still had to sweep and then mop my wood floors multiple times before I was able to get rid of the soot residue. It's a messy job, and I live in an older house where the chimneys had probably never been cleaned before.
took many precautions, but I don't think it would have been possible to prevent the soot from settling on most everything in the area."
Chimee on a Saturday morning requesting a quote on a chimney cleaning and installation of a chimney cap. The owner said he would send someone out that same day. Later, I got a call from the service guy and he said they were overbooked, but he could come see me Monday. ( I actually think they only have one service ...more guy ).
The service guy arrived about an hour late for my appointment Monday. Then he went on my roof for a couple of minutes and came back down to tell me I need to get my chimeny crown replaced and flasing installed. He wrote up an estimate for everything and then charged me $75.
There was no mention of a charge for estimates, when I made the appointment, so this surprised me. Then he says that they apply the $75 towards the final bill should I choose to have
Chimne do the work.
I've checked with other companies and
is very overpriced in my opinion. I will cut my losses with them at $75 and not work with them again. Be sure you specifically ask about a free estimate when calling service companies. You should not have to pay someone to bid on a job for you."
"Everything you'd want from a service provider: Person who came was prompt, polite, helpful, clean, organized, efficient. He explained things clearly, presented all the options. There was no sales pitch or fast talking. Everything was very straightforward. I'd absolutely recommend this company to a friend or family member.
