"It turned out well. They repaired the inside trenching of the wall, a pump to pump out the water. I was having water coming into the basement in high rainy days." They were very thorough in making sure that the dust didn't migrate throughout the house because they created a lot of dust when they were breaking up the concrete and they took everything out and it was neat when they left. The laid tarp down so they didn't get dust on your carpet. The job held up very well. I can hear the pump going off whenever there's a heavy rain and I haven't had any water problems since the repair. They were effective in resolving the problem.

"I Bought the coupon special because i had dampness in the crawl space under my house. He called and we made appointment for him to come out and check the problem. He" came out and checked drainage around the house. He told me that the rain needed to move away from the house. We agreed upon the drainage system with pop up on most of the drains to let the water out. The date for the work to be done was a mix up due to a misunderstanding.Mr. rescheduled to fit my schedule. He came with his workers and completed the job to my satisfaction in a timely matter.

6 Questions to Ask a Basement Waterproofing Contractor

Ask your basement waterproofing contractor these key questions.

basement, flood, sump pump

What to Expect with Basement Waterproofing

Does your finished basement have seepage? Does water find a way in, and make you wonder if you need foundation repair?

It’s not abnormal to find mold in your home. Getting the mold treated right away is the best way to avoid health risks. Once you remove the mold from your home it’s very important to fix the moisture problem to prevent the problem from reoccurring.

Harley Davidson-themed man cave

If you're wanting to transform that unfinished space into a man cave, here's how to get started.

Basement bathroom

You'll need this if you install a basement bathroom.

rusty basement window

Maintaining your window wells and basement windows are key to keeping moisture out of the house.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Winston Salem

Went very well, they covered the crawl space with heavy plastic and sealed the edges. installed foam insulation on basement walls, installed floor drainage, filled in space between foundation and basement walls, including installed steel reinforcing beams on front of wall.

These guys are great! Prompt, professional, courteous, and very thoughtful-- I have a toddler and they even thought to ask about his nap schedule so that they could complete the loudest work beforehand. Amazing! They finished the work in the amount of time they said they would at the agreed upon cost. Very highly recommend them!

I was experiencing some moisture issues in my garage slab after the recent heavy rains. I contacted two highly rated waterproofing companies off angle's list to take a look at the problem and provide estimates. One (who will remain unnamed) wanted to take a very aggressive approach to fixing the issue (inside French drain with demolition to my ...More finished basement) with a price tag of $5k - even doubted I had an exterior french drain although I had paperwork and piping that suggested so. (with ) came out and after looking over my issues and talking in depth with me felt like the exterior french drain was not draining properly - allowing the water to back up near the foundation. He suggested a much more reasonable approach to dig and find the end of the exterior drain to make sure it was being carried away from the house and if, not, pipe it to the end of my yard - estimate $810. Based on the two estimates and discussions, I decided to go with - was very responsive regarding the quote and scheduling. After the rains subsided, his crew came out and found the original subcontractor when the house was built had dead ended the french drain outlet right next to the foundation (unbelievable!) and covered it with dirt. Once the drain was cleared, water that had backed up flowed freely for over an hour. They then ran a trench from the drain under my sidewalk out to the end of the yard. A drainage pipe was laid that connected the french drain outlet and a nearby downspout. During the course of the work, I decided also to have them put in a basin to catch another nearby downspout. The work was done in about 6 hours and the final cost was around $1000 since I had them add the extra drain box. All in all, they were very professional and were always answering my questions completely. They cleaned up thoroughly after the job and kept apologizing for not being able to make it cleaner - all of the rains had made the ground very wet but I was pleased with the cleanup. There have not been heavy rains since then installation, but it performed well after a light rain, so I am optimistic my issues have been solved. I was very impressed with and would highly recommend them for future work.

was prompt, courteous, and willing to give options to us. He came as soon as the material arrived and finished up in two days. He and his men were efficient and skilled. He was extremely willing to go over each step of the process as he worked and make any changes we wanted. His price was very reasonable considering the work ...More he did. My basement was awful and flooded whenever it rained. After the rainstorm on Saturday, the ground wicked some water into basement, the sump pump kicked in automatically and the basement never flooded. Additionally the dehumidifier kicked in automatically also so the basement is dry now. I can't say enough good things about this company and recommend it without reservations to anyone who has basement issues. It's nice to have peace of mind about this previous problem. He gave us good advice about drainage on our property and we may employ him to assist us with this in the future.

We are finishing our basement, and when there was a large amount of rain recently, we noticed water coming in through a wall in the newly finished basement. After looking around, we decided to use to do the waterproofing. He was quick to respond to all of my messages, and getting appointments set up for an estimate and completion ...More of the actual work was easy. They completed the work in 2 days, exactly as planned (and for the exact amount of the estimate), and cleaned up the job site before leaving. The work looks great, and hopefully we won't have any more problems with water in the area. I will update this review if needed, but for now everything looks great.

- Gregory L.

It went very well. Very professional. Kept area clean at all times even during drilling. Covered area to prevent dust. Awesome job
- Roger C.

Years of rains and blocked water exits (as well as a broken sump pump) damaged the basement and house foundation. came by and had a look at all the drainage systems, the foundation, and looked at the dampness of the basement. This was important to us as we have an infant and when we pulled down one of the walls saw black mold ...More and mildew, it was time to call in an expert.
had a list of things for us to have him do, do ourselves, or have someone else fix; but we ultimately decided to go with him. When mentioning Angie's List he even gave us a 5% discount on the work!
When came in to replace the sump pump and fog the basement, he was with , and while fogged the basement helped rebuild on of our gutter drains and checked the drain system it dumped into free of charge. He continued to offer suggestions on where we should go next with our repairs and renovations and showed me exactly what he was talking about and how we could do some of the work ourselves to save money. He didn't try to add on anything and kept to his "I am offering these suggestions, you can let me help you or you can do on your own" stance. Loved it!
Looking at remaining suggestions, plus our personal fixes, I will definitely go back to get some of the tougher stuff completed by someone as professional as .
- Jason P.

The work went as planned and the team was on time, cleaned up and very courteous. I would recommend to my friends.
