Plastering reviews in Washington

Cook & Sons,
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
did an excellent job on the plaster repairs, wall damage and annoying cracks that existed in many areas/rooms of my home. They performed plaster repair in several rooms, entryways, and stairwell of the home; including badly damaged plaster around windows and ceilings that had been damaged due to previous leaks.

his staff, from my initial call of requesting their services, were prompt and courteous. The price quoted to me, considering the amount of work that I knew was needed, was more than fair and slightly lower than other contractors I contacted. They even covered additional areas of my home that were not originally a part of the scope of work and issues not foreseen at no additional cost! I am not even going to mention some of the "weirdest" things uncovered and F---’d up stuff from previous owners found during their time performing the work on my home’s walls-ceilings in this review. They definitely went the extra mile and I must mention that the Master Plaster Tradesman (I believe
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the name) that performed the bulk of the work, has expert skill in plastering and take great pride in completing work to a professional finish. He went above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied with their work and treated the job in my home with meticulousness care --as if it was his own home. Each day they were on time and cleaned-up after themselves. Upon completing the plaster work, I decided to give the painting job to Cook & Sons,
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
as well. The price of the painting mostly all ceilings and areas where plaster work was performed was on par with other contractors. Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
even threw-in the ceiling paint and primer at no additional cost.

Given the age of historic houses and DC homes such as mine built in 1918, these guys know their stuff and the structure of old homes in DC well. Many contractors can perform drywall services, but few are skillful and experts in plaster. I would consider Cook & Sons,
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
an elite group of tradesmen in this category. My home's interior now look near new and the wall/ceiling cracks that plagued the home for years are gone. I was very pleased with the overall finished product and outcome of hiring Cook & Sons,
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
! I would definitely recommend them and/or consider them for jobs in the future.

I hired
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
to gut my bathroom upon speaking
with my neighbors who were having them complete a major basement renovation.
They were pleased at the time with their work and their friendliness. At this
point I had interviewed more than 10 contractors and it went something like
this: take the time to meet with contractor, they say they can do the work, and
never call back, price is way too high, or they argue with you about your
design and say it is not going to work. I was pretty set on my design concept
after 8 months of planning so I didn’t want to compromise that much. Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked

met with me, said his guys could do the work no problem, and within 2 weeks, and
was responsive and helpful to my questions and concerns. Pretty much from day 2
was when the problems started. His on-site guy, Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
, was very affable and
willing to accommodate. However, specific plans, contract specifications and
communication among the team were all major problems. Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
appeared to
not have all the information regarding what to demo, what special materials
were in the contract, and, it would appear did not obtain this information the
way I would expect him to from his partner. I must have gone through the
complete specs, desires, and materials at least three times, and more to his
team. Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
would say that Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
never gave him the task list every
time I questioned a practice or said that something he was not doing was in the
contract. In the end my bathroom was functional, after 6 weeks (3x longer than
what was said by Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
), my bathroom floor, which was rebuilt and was
supposed to be laid with underlayment instead of cement board, is now a full
inch and 1/8 higher than my hallway floor, my expensive mosaic tile was
installed upside down, my marble tile is scratched from where they dragged my
clawfoot tub across it, the beadboard is 42” and was supposed to be 48”, and I
am now having to buy more mosaic tile to run the full length of the wall (as
this was the only way to not make it look weird), and, I had to hire another
electrician to come in and fix a connection that their electrician hooked up
incorrectly. They were hired to take down all four walls and the ceiling. They
took down one wall and covered up two with more drywall-causing me to loose
even more space in a small bathroom. And, a special installation of a wood
ceiling that I switched out for more electrical work is now being completed by
another who is having to spend a lot of time on it because none of the walls
are square and the ceiling is not plum (because they didn’t take it down as was
stipulated in the contract). During the entire 6 weeks they made little effort to organize their equipment or attempt to clean up consistently. They had tools in my basement, kitchen, guest room, bathroom, dining room, and on my porch. The team ended up mistaking many of my tools for theirs and took them for which Mr.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
said to reduce from my last payment. Who is so unorganized that they take their client's tools? I withheld about $1,300 of a $15.5K (this did not
include any finishing materials) project to try and recoup some of the cost of
their mistakes. In the end I will likely spend over $3K completing the work and
trying to improvise the design after it was changed by them.
While they may have done a decent job on my neighbor’s
project, my experience has proven them to be very inconsistent. It was a costly
mistake on my part.

Very good communication, professional and polite. However, we did not hire because the estimate was more than twice the other two estimates we received (a 35k difference).

came in as the lowest cost estimate to fix damaged plaster and drywall. The whole process from start to finish was very smooth: fast response times on e-mails, they arrived on time as scheduled, finished the work in one day, communicated what they were doing throughout. The needed to get additional paint and went out and retrieved it from Fragers at no extra cost. One of the better Angie's list experiences I've had, highly recommend.

Working with Fredi and his crew was amazing and super easy. Fredi came and met with us and we explained all the work. I had a quote that night and then work began almost immediately. Fredi and his crew were very nice and professional and did amazing work throughout our house. They performed the work on time and did a fantastic job The paint is flawless and you cannot even tell that we had any work done. Fredi stayed in touch with us throughout the entire project and talked to us about all of our concerns and ideas. He was very polite and professional to work with. The crew was on time everyday and even dealt with our two crazy dogs running throughout the house. We will definitely use them again for home improvement projects and are looking to use him to replace our roof next spring!

They arrived on time. They listened as I pointed out the areas I wanted them to repair. I actually thought they were gonna discuss the job and pick a few of the areas I showed them, BUT, they just laid drop clothes and began to work. Within 2 hrs, they completed the work on ALL of the areas I pointed out to be repaired. Cleaned the job areas, their manager inspected and approved the work, asked me if I had and questions - I did not - then quietly left. The entire experience was Q.E.D. - Quite Easily Done!
Thank you!

Fredi and his crew were amazing, I can not say enough positive things about them. They were professional, courteous and punctual. They went above and beyond to ensure that the entire area was protected and they left my place clean at the end of every day. They were friendly and very hard workers. They went above and beyond offering suggestions on how to improve the aesthetics of the area they were working on (suggesting molding, etc). I had bought a skylight that was too big and they even worked around the issue and came up with a great solution allowing us to still utilize the skylight. Their drywall work was perfect and they even replastered parts of the walls that had gotten ripped down when the ceiling came down (including touching up the paint). I would recommend them to anyone and definitely plan to utilize them again. Overall it was a really great experience.

Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
is a consummate professional who shows up at the appointed hour every day. Each of the rooms that were painted contained an extensive amounts of wood molding, while one also contained a intricate coffered ceiling.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his assistant were very conscientious about the prep work as well as the finished paintwork in each of the rooms. They were very careful when moving and protecting furnishings and artwork. When the job was completed, everything was exactly where it stood before the work began (he must of taken photos on his phone before he started working).
I would recommend
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
without hesitation, and I will certainly call on him again the next time I need painting services performed.

I have never been so happy with a company. They are busy but responsive, efficient, and timely. Some of the staff are very talented from a design standpoint, and I learned to trust their judgment implicitly. I would trust them to do almost anything, and the owner will be very honest about what he feels they can do and what might be out of their scope. The prices are very reasonable, and the owner is always responsive if there is a problem that needs attention after completion of the job.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
deserves all the A ratings above!

Overall it went fine.
Washington Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very responsive, provided a quote onsite, and was good about scheduling. The guy who did the plastering went a little overboard and plastered things that shouldn't have been - but happily fixed everything on his scheduled return visit.
