"I was very impressed with 's professionalism throughout the process. He was prompt for our appointment to estimate the project cost and completed the work right on schedule, meeting a tight timeline that I had discussed with him. The work was beautifully done and the repairs blended into the existing plaster and paint seamlessly."

"My wife and I purchased a row house on Capitol Hill. The previous owner
had two young children and there were jungle scenes painted in two of
the bedrooms. The rest of the house needed an update in every room - as
well as outside.
We were referred to "Hutchy" by a family friend.
He came over for a walk-through and provided us with an estimate on site the same day.
His estimate included removing all of the previous "bad paint" (this was
from the jungle scene in the bedrooms) as well as helping us pick what
colors we wanted to use in each room, and also painting everything.
Hutchy started out by playing the role of a professional interior
decorator - and did a great job. We had just purchased the home and we
wanted to be done with decisions. He talked to us about each room
individually and asked what we wanted to do in the room (i.e. relax,
entertain, work, rest). Following this meeting he gave us color and
theme recommendations for each room.
Once we decided on the colors for each room, he gave us an estimate on
how much time it would take to finish the project. He stressed that
since he was not working with a big crew that it might take a little
longer - but it would help in the cleanliness. He explained there
wouldn't be a crew of ten people in/out of our place.
We later had our floors redone by a big company with a "crew" who was
in/out in one day. They did a good job with the floors, but messed up
the paint in three different rooms. Hutchy runs a different operation.
He meets with you personally and does the work himself. He actually ended up stopping by later to fix the messes they made - at no charge!
In summary, Hutchy finished all of the rooms inside (and the exterior
front of our house later) ahead of schedule and on budget.
We will definitely work with him again and we have suggested his professional services to friends & family.

" painted the inside of our new home on Capitol Hill. He helped us pick colors and walked me through every step of the way.
He was professional and worked around our work schedules to be here when we weren't.
In the end, our house looks wonderful and we're happy to tell the story of each room -- and how we picked the colors.
We will definitely use him again. I actually want him to paint stripes in my dining room, but my husband says we need a new deck first!
He is a total professional who meets all budgets, deadlines and exceed expectations.

"In the past he did a lot of interior painting for us and he did a really nice job and got it done quickly too. It was all a little floppier this time than it has been in the past. I think he farmed out part of the job to some subcontractor who didn’t do a good job on the painting. The shelf that they installed was uneven and was not done correctly. I would use their service in the future."

"Overall Experience: AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!
? I’m a relatively new condo owner, I bought my place in 2009 and this the first time I have ever hired anyone to fix anything. I haven’t fixed anything on my own and ’t have a lot of self confidence in my ability to do things
? was extremely patient, responsive and friendly. He took the time to answer all my questions. For example, the previous owner had left paint. However, I had no idea if it was still good. I was nervous about going somewhere and having them sell me paint that I didn’t need. took the time to recommend a place that would check the paint.
? was also really patient and understanding with me in regard to scheduling. This was the first time I had any work done in my condo. I’m on the third floor and wanted to make sure that there weren’t any rules about noise and that I wouldn’t be disturbing any of my neighbors

Why I mentioned to IKEA Furniture: I know there are assembly services but I was tired of waiting. I thought that might be able to have some people assemble the unit for me after the wall was painted. I sent him an picture and asked him about it. He said that it would probably be easier and less expensive to use an assembly service. I really appreciated the honesty. While I’m sure he had people with the skills to do it he didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need.

? When the day came both workers arrived early. They were both extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They took the time to explain things and to answer any questions that I had.
? I was extremely impressed that came by to check on things. We talked a little bit and he took the time to answer a few general home improvement questions. In addition, I asked if he could recommend a good hardware store. I explained that I was nervous about someone selling me things I didn’t need. He understood my concern and took the time to recommend a place.
? I thought I had the correct paint to do the wall where the holes were patched. Unfortunately, I didn’t. The person that patched the holes and that was going to paint noticed this before starting and told me about it. He took the time to explain the different types of paint to me. I was extremely grateful. He also answered my questions about the different types of paint in my place (the outside door, the ceiling, etc).
? After everything was completed took the time to call and ask me how everything went which I really appreciated.
Overall: While I want to become a more knowledgeable and self sufficient condo owner I would have absolutely no problem hiring again to do a job even it was really small."

" is my go-to person for everything that is not highly specialized. He has been a lifesaver for me. He was incredibly thorough, fast, and reliable. Last summer, he did a lot of work on my rental house including painting the whole house, top to bottom on the inside and choosing and supervising installment of new carpeting. He also did grading of the backyard for better drainage away from the house and replacing gutters along the roof and doing some spot work on the roof itself. He also did some slight bathroom remodeling. He was kind of expensive, but it was a reasonable price for the work done. He also put up a wall between the bedroom and the sitting room upstairs creating a third small bedroom. He has got a very good work sense. He can do most of things by himself, but where he can't, he has a good network. I found him very reliable in recruiting someone for the work that he can't do. He has given me really good deals. Regarding the price, he is very reasonable. I am glad that we got him and I have used him basically for everything. I would use him in the future too."

"Benchmark was extremely responsive and easy to work with. The work was a very high quality. was our main point of contact and he was fabulous - quickly understood what I needed on the job and delivered it without any fuss or distractions.
I was also home alone at the time with a and they were wonderful in accomodating that so as to cause me minimal disruption - I truly appreciated that extra level of customer service."

" and were extremely forthcoming about pricing, which was one of the most refreshing things about my experience with them. They advised me where the cheapest materials could be found, and were clear about hourly labor charges, etc.
Because they were working on the only bathroom in our house, they asked the laborers if they would be willing to come in on Saturday and Sunday, which they did. I was very impressed by this degree of concern. In the end, even with a major change of plan about three days through, the whole job wound up taking less than two weeks, which was a feat. They replaced all the plumbing, floor joists and tiling, walls and insulation, reconfigured our HVAC ducts to accommodate a fabulous new pocket door, and installed a new tub, toilet and fixtures.
We ran into one minor scheduling goof in which the project manager told us it was ok to check out of our hotel room and come on home, but when we got there, we found that they clearly weren't done and so we had to find a new pet-friendly hotel at 10:30 pm. We told about it, and he promptly resolved the issue by reimbursing us for our hotel stay and then some. I appreciated his professionalism, and the fact that I didn't need to make a fuss about it. He seemed to genuinely care about our satisfaction. There's no way you can have a large project like this done and not run into any hiccups, so the way he handled it when we did was greatly appreciated.
We have another large project coming up, and will be scheduling with them again for certain. Their results are immaculate, by the way - our bathroom is the nicest room in our house!"

"He's my handyman and has been for a long time. I use them constantly to do jobs in my house. I spend about $1,500 a year with them. They are highly skilled and extremely responsive. They are very fair priced and very dependable. "

"We bought a fixer-upper about a year ago. and his team helped make it a home. From the moment we met , he worked with us to achieve the results we wanted, in the timeline we wanted, at a price we could afford. and his team are hardworking, knowledgeable, talented, and delightful to work with. We consider them members of the family and would confidently place our trust in them for any future projects.
We were looking to save money on our renovation and chose to do as much work ourselves as possible. We discovered and his team through Angie's List and brought them in to do the big projects we didn't feel comfortable doing ourselves -- like taking out a load bearing wall and some major electical and plumbing adjustments. We ended up calling on them to help us with a host of other projects along the way, including some drywall and painting work, and they were were on site at a moment's notice when we had an unexpected (and gross) plumbing issue. Not only did they do the work we asked of them well and at a good price, but they were patient with us when we asked questions or made adjustments. They also went above and beyond the call of duty, giving us advice on projects we were struggling to do on our own. We wouldn't be where we are today without them. They have also since done some excellent tiling work for a friend. You would be lucky to have them do any work on your home."
