"I really wanted to use 
to activate my existing security alarm in the new home I purchased after reading about the company?s goals and reviews. We have never owned a house before and this was our first experience with a security system. However, I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from the company. I wanted to use a company that would walk me through the process, alleviate my anxieties about the existing system, create trust in the monitoring company, and make me feel empowered in my actions to keep my home safe. This just did not happen. As a potential new customer, I expect to get a phone call back within a couple of days and have everything explained to me. When I leave a voice message for the sales person assigned to me, I just do not feel like a short email adequately answers my questions. And call me old fashioned, but I strongly feel that email conversations should be followed up with a phone call. I decided to go with another company that was much more accommodating to answer all of my questions and make me feel secure in the decisions I am making to protect my home and family."

"These guys are the best. We had an experience with a larger (acdtually the best known) commercial firm who sent out an individual who clearly had no idea as to what he was doing. guys came through as pros, inspected the house, laid out what our options were and gave us a price. They are, to be sure, not the cheapest option available, in part because you have to purchase your own equipment (which is btw far superior to that offered by most competitors). But my logic is that if you're going to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a house, why not cough up a couple thousand for something that actually works and works well."

"We had a kitchen fire and the firefighters broke open our door and broke our front door lock so that we couldn't lock our house. I e-mailed Jair at 1stSecurity 495 through Angie's List and told him that I needed a way to temporary lock my house until I could get money from the insurance company to replace the door and lock. He responded within the hour. He quoted me his service call rate, with an Angie's List discount, and said that he'd have to see what the damage was, but that if he didn't think he could fix it he wouldn't charge the service call fee. He was scheduled to come out at 4pm during a severe thunderstorm which shut down many of the local roads. He called me and updated me on his status, and after he'd been sitting in traffic for an hour, I asked him if we could reschedule for 8am the following morning. Jair showed up promptly at 8am dressed in his company's uniform. Upon greeting me he showed me his ID and his DC, MD and VA licenses. He spent two hours meticulously working on the inner-mechanisms of the lock making various adjustments and was able to get it to work and re-install it. He was very professional and was able to save us the $900-1100 outlay for a new lock. His company does alarm, security camera and safe work in addition to locksmith services and he said his policy is only to use quality products with warranties (e.g., Schlage and locks, GE cameras, etc.) so that the products last and if there is ever a problem the customer won't have further costs. He is the epitome of a great service provider who builds goodwill through excellent and helpful service as opposed to the many scammers you could find in the Yellow Pages."

"Miles and his crew are truly wonderful and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I decided to go with them based on what I read here on Angie's List and I am not at all sorry I did!
First, Miles came to my home and helped me pick exactly what I wanted. Their pricing is modular, which he explained to me very clearly, so I could decide exactly what I wanted to have right away. He also noted that there are things I can add later as I choose. The system was very clear and I felt no pressure at all -- I just felt able to pick exactly what I wanted, with a clear explanation of price and how it all would work. I ordered from him right then and there.
A week or so later, his team came to install everything. They did a flawless job, and left no or other damage to the drywall. When there was a programming issue on the first full day, Miles himself came to my home within hours of my call, on the Saturday of a holiday weekend, to make sure it was all working properly. I have never had better customer service from anyone in my life. One quick fix and everything has been fine every since. The system is and easy-to-use, and I sleep better at night.
I cannot speak highly enough of , and will certainly use them again if I ever buy another home."

"The owner of the firm, Miles, came out to view our house and provide an estimate. He was extremely punctual, very knowledgeable and provided a detailed estimate. He was helpful in explaining what all of our options were and following up with us.
My only issue is that when the installer showed up to put the system in, he kept asking me where we wanted certain elements. I'm not a security expert and really looked to them to tell me where we needed things to go. It was nice that he asked where we wanted certain elements so that they put in inconspicious or convenient places. But other times, it went beyond that to asking where we wanted things to make the system the most secure.
Finally, after they left, we noticed that one of the wires was still hanging out of the wall and a sensor fell off the back door. They were very quick to apologize and get someone out to fix it. If we hadn't noticed, our security system would have been left with some serious gaps. In their defense, our house was being renovated, which made working in the house a little difficult.
Overall, this is a high quality company with great service."

" was professional and efficient from start to finish. The salesman who met me for the assessment was knowledgeable and thorough. He didn't try to upsell me once I made it clear that I wanted a basic burglar alarm system, though he did make me aware of other services such as monitored smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors. The two installation techs were in and out of my house in 3.5 hours. The two touchpads they installed are so inconspicuous that no one notices them until I point them out, and the work (drilling, etc.) they had to do to string wire between floors was done with a minimum of damage and mess. Now it's invisible. I couldn't be happier with this system, and the monthly monitoring fee is quite reasonable. The only time I tripped the system so far (dropping the toilet seat loudly in the bathroom while the alarm was on so that the glass-break sensor tripped), the monitoring service responded with a call to my home in seconds."

"I spend about $50 a month on them. I used them only because I thought I?d get a discount on the homeowner?s insurance by installing an alarm system. Only after getting the system, I realized that the discount was only $20 a year. My neighborhood is quite safe. So, when my three year contract with them expires, I will not renew the contract. The alarm system is nice. I can monitor it online. My roommate can also do the monitoring. However, I haven?t set it up yet. So, I am paying for something that I am not using. However, when I do install it, I can do a lot of monitoring over it. I can have codes for myself and the others who come home. I can give codes to my sister to come in. It is an electronic device. It is a nice feature to have. I can say that their service is good. "
