"I had a leak in my kitchen sink which the plumbers, in the process of repairing, left a gaping hole in the wall above and below the sink. I called Homes, as I had used them before when I first moved into my condo for some custom work and had a good experience, and he sent his team to the rescue. Soon after I called he scheduled an appointment for his team to come in. While I was at work, they patched up the hole in the dry wall and painted the wall such that it looked as good as new in half a day. When I returned home, they had left the place cleaner than when I had left it (returning all the items from under the sink which were lying in the dining room back under the sink), which is more than I can say for the plumbers. I will be sure to use Homes again!"

"When you walk into my house, you notice a slope. For that and many other problems, I called to look at the house and provide an estimate of costs.
After an initial walkthrough of the first floor, decided that the house needed major structural care---floating the foundation, perhaps rebuilding segments of the foundation walls, for a total of maybe half a million ($500,000.00) in work. He assured me that the house would be sinking into the ground until I took full and complete action.
I tried to get him to talk about other elements of the house, like fixing the roof, but he insisted that the project has to be taken as a whole, and there's no way to split off parts like that. I pointed out that my insurance company thinks the house can be entirely rebuilt for $250k, and he said that's lowball, but didn't explain how to bridge the gap between maybe $300k and the $500k he initially estimated. He just kept pushing that the house would fall apart unless I do what he told me, that there's no point doing anything until that foundation gets floated.
arrived at this horrifying conclusion without going to the basement. I've had structural engineers come in since, and by looking at the foundation itself, they concluded that the foundation is entirely sound, though the joists and other supporting wood and does need repair---or it can just left as-is and the floors leveled from above. It's still going to cost me $20k, but all the talk about the house slowly sinking into the ground and the foundation crumbling turns out to be entirely false.
I had a lot of contractors come through, and more than a few were just plain wrong about what was lurking in my basement; I'm not leaving Angie's List comments about them. But I'm taking the time to leave this note because really pursued the horror story, and made a real effort to convince me that if I don't spend an absurdly inflated amount of money, then my house is in peril. I have enough of my own worries about the house, and don't need more from somebody who's just trying to sell me things I don't need."

"In all cases, Ransom Co. was on time, had lower estimates and costs than other companies, did neat and conscientious work and gave good advice. Now I would depend on Ransom to do any work I have, simply because is trustworthy, does excellent work, is on time and is cheaper than other companies. My custom built bookcases are so lovely that fellow condo residents comment on them and several have asked me for 's phone number as a result -- people peer into my front windows (unfortunately) to see some really unique built in shelves. is clever, and thinks outside of the box -- he used an unusual type of paint for my bookshelves and as a result, I wipe them clean with a sponge."

"DO NOT HIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Working with was one of the worst, most traumatic experiences I have ever had, and a huge waste of time and money. I hired them for a remodel of my condo, and they performed horrible work, took approximately 10 times the contractual time period, were negligent and careless, repeatedly bullied and harrassed me, sending men to my house at 8:00 am unannounced, demanded early payment of work not completed, and threatened to put a on my home if I did not comply. I found out later that they literally hired illegal workers from SEVEN ELEVEN, who had no idea how to do the job, and went around the building begging for help. Their workers repeatedly complained to me and my neighbors that they werent being paid. During the 6 months they refused to answer my calls and repeatedly abandoned the job, sending an occasional angry worker by. They did things like leave my house wide open for days, trash the interior of the building, leave an open pipe running water on the raw baseboards for days. I made them redo several things, up to four times and it still looks horrible. Now, less than a year later all their work is falling off the walls cracking and falling apart. They only reason I havent sued is that I am so traumatized by the gruelling experience that I think I might actually have a nervous breakdown if I tried. The money I spent was cash down the toilet, and I will have to do the whole job again. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"We contacted due to the great reviews on this site; however, after coming out to our place to take a look at the work we needed done and telling us they'd have an estimate for us "early next week," no one ever bothered to call us back. I personally don't think paying customers should have to chase down contractors whom they are trying to employ. I haven't called them back (it's been over a month) to see if they'll provide us with the promised estimate because I have to question their competency if they aren't organized or professional enough to call a potential client back. Given their demonstrated organizational skills so far, I wouldn't trust them to manage and complete work in my home.
---As I noted above, came out to our home to look over the minor work we wanted done in our basement (drywall, add a drop ceiling, hang doors). They never got back to us with an estimate, but recently they did call us and ask to reschedule and apologized for not getting back to us when they initially came out in early April. Unfortunately, after waiting til 12 noon for my 11am appointment, I called them and they had the wrong date for our appointment. They offered to come out later that afternoon, but I declined. At this point, we really had wanted the minor work completed already due to upcoming events that would prevent us from having a contractor start in the home now. But I did appreciate the rescheduling attempt, and the next rescheduling attempt. "

"He does everything that has to do with remodeling and construction, form small jobs to large ones: from putting in new floors to fixing plumbing and installing installation. He also does gutters and roofing. He can do almost everything, and if he can't he can hire some one to do the job. He is reasonable. He generally hires a team of people to work under him. Sometimes he will do the job himself, other times he will oversee the team. He is very dependable, I have been using him for about 10 years. "

"They asked for 25% up front. Pay the next 25% after 6 weeks. We did not have the next portion and asked them to postpone the work. When we did have the money, we gave them the additional 25% and then we received a letter stating that they would not finish the job unless we paid it in full.
We have enuph money to finish the project but we are not comfterable paying for the entire ammount before the work has been completed in certin stages. We would agree to even have a bank hold on to the money and once the work is complete the money would be released to them. They stated they do not want to agree to that because we were late with a payment on the 2nd phase. We have already paid them for phase 2 after being a little late and now they want full payment.

"This company is terrible, they did a horrible job on my house, cut corners and everything they work put in was cheap. We didn't get any options and they didn't communicate with us at all. we've been having nothing but problems and I wish I would have never used them."
