Before buying from these guys, be sure to physically make a trip to the Stow Municipal Court and read all of the filings in their various cases 2014CVF02664, 2014CVF02173, and 2014CVF02357, among others.
1) They could start billing and going through all the connections in the house to track down the problem
2) They could replace the main breaker panel now (FPEs have been known to cause flickering) and if the flickering was still present they would do a few hours of free debugging work.
I chose to do the second option. The crew came out ready to go on the scheduled date and did the job in under the estimated time (on the hottest day of the year so far!) The installation looks amazing, they really do make a bunch of metal look really d*** nice. Unfortunately the flickering was still present.
The foreman came out (
I would absolutely recommend working with
(This was all after having another electrician come out and do one of the biggest hack jobs I have ever seen. That's another story for another time)
The second problem that I noticed right away was that he (or his electrician) drilled holes into my walls in the wrong places and just left them there. They didn't patch the holes - or even tell me about the holes in my wall and the missing paint. That's just wrong. A professional would have told me about them and either fixed them, offered to pay for them to be fixed, or taken money off the bill. This one really was upsetting, as I had just had the room painted. (As an aside, I learned when they were in the middle of the installation that the electrician who did the work was unlicensed. I would have liked to have known that, as an unlicensed electrician is someone I would never normally hire.)
Third, he wouldn't tell me how to program the remote; I specifically asked to be taught. He said no because it was confusing. I am not easily confused, and if any of the programming was incomplete or something happened to the programming, it would have been nice to know how to do it. In fact, later I realized that he didn't program every command from my prior remote control into the new one, and I had no idea how to add the commands. I wasn't given any users manual that explained how to do it, either.
The problems I found later included:
I received no manual or instructions on how to work the tuner. I cannot change a radio station! He put in some "favorite" stations for me, but I am unable to listen to any other stations! This is truly frustrating. I am pretty good at figuring out how to use things - often without even looking at a manual -- but it isn't like this tuner has a dial or a button that is labeled. I've tried every button, every dial. Nothing changes the station. Obviously, it is possible. But nothing I have tried has worked. Since I spent lots of money on this thing, it would have been nice to be able to use it. I still can't use it!
I have no idea how to change the volume on the speakers on the deck. Again, I received no instructions on how to do it, and there was no manual explaining how to do it.
I did call
Also, I am not entirely sure on the date, as it was quite a while ago, so my service date listed is approximate.
I have one of the techs in my contacts and I can text him any time even with little questions and he responds promptly.”
