Washington Furniture Repair Shops Reviews

"This was a job which sounds

, but wasn't

. I got a restoration hardware vanity that was poorly designed with multidensity fiberboard wood and a top that did not overhang. As a consequence 2 vanities had water damage and this was the third. To restoration hardware's credit, they exchanged vanities twice.
The contractor that had put in the first two said he would not do it again, because it would obviously fail. Two contractors told me to just return it and to not try to do it again. Three contractors, including Shlomo, were willing to try, but they all cautioned me to be careful about not allowing water to go over the side and said that there might be trouble in the future.
I selected Shlomo because he seemed the most eager to make the effort and gave me the impression (correctly) that he cared about his craft and that he would do it right- the the best it could be done.
Two months later, there is no water damage. He weathered the craziness that went with this job and today (

1, 2013, there is no water damage). He is also honest- I accidentally gave him some money which he corrected. He found some mildew -in my pipes and we found some chorox and cleaned it up. I was impressed with this, because several people had worked the vanity and just left the mildew there. I had been going crazy looking for the mildew smell before he came- and he found it, told me about it, and fixed it. I would have never known if he just put the cabinet over the mildew. His daughter does most of the coordination - and she was charming. I found it possible to reach him within 24 hours of my request. And he was clearly expert in this- (by the time I got to him, I had been through a lot of discussion about the matter!!)
Anyway, if you work with him, ask him to put drop cloths down on your floor if you want them. He just put his tools, the old vanity and other stuff right on my carpet. Look at the job before he leaves and ask him to do any clean up that needs to be done. Some of the grout was in a crooked line and had been wet- but when I called it to his attention, he came back to my house at no charge and fixed it with no hesitation.
I recommend him as a contractor and encourage you to show a little more attention to detail than I did. He is an excellent craftsman but like many good craftsman, he pays more attention to the job than he does to caring for the surrounding home. He is really good.

"The owner worked with me, the response was highly professional. They fit the work around my schedule, arriving early in the morning. The pieces look great. The owner is very knowledgable and I was completely satisfied.
"These guys are fantastic - I highly recommend them for the quality of their work, very quick service and customer service overall. We moved over the summer and the moving company broke the leg off an antique desk that was given to me by my parents. (What was worse was that the moving crew threw away the leg, so it couldn't be reattached.) I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to get it fixed. But I called

& Sons and sent them a few pictures. They responded right away that they could fix it by building a replacement leg and attaching it to the desk. Within a week, they came out, took measurements and then two weeks later returned with an exact replica of the old leg. They did such a fantastic job that you can't even tell the difference between the replacement and the other legs. I am so grateful that they were able to help, and $650 seemed like a bargain for the quality and craftsmanship of the work they did.

and his colleage/assistant came to our home to removed the leaf from our newly pruchased table which we found out was not so easy to remove like the store (Regency Furniture) assured us it would be. They quickly removed screws from six sets of metal bands/strips plus advised us that 4 pieces of wood were not needed and removed them too. Mr.

tried to remove the dried glue/adheasive areas that were marring the finish and when they did not come out with the chemical solution, he gave us a choice that he could remove them if we did not mind some very fine scratches and he tested and showed us first an example using some very fine metal piece of pad. The test area looked fine to us and he removed both areas of the dried glue/adheasive damaged areas and my wife and I were very pleased with the work,
Seeing their work firsthand and the results, I would gladly recommend them highly. The work was quick and the results were great and better than I had expected.
"I got the name originally from Angie's list but when I spoke with RAM initially the gentleman said they do not do the kind of work I needed to have done. He referred me to

. I contacted

and when that repairman came out, he was only able to clean the furniture but he said his company does not do repairs. He called his office and explained that I was looking for someone to not only clean my furniture but to also repair my furniture. Pearla at

had said that everything could be done but once the repairman came out and explained that he/his company do not do repairs. ironically they referred me to RAM. This time when RAM called they could do the repairs. So although it was round about, at the end of the day, I am satisfied with the work that was done by both RAM and

"Sent photos Feb 14 for an estimate. Mr

responded promptly with a general estimate.Feb 25 Mr.

and a helper arrived for pickup. He advised me it would be 3 - 4 wks to complete. It actually took 6 weeks. As Mr

picks up and delivers furniture in person throughout the metro area, the delay was understandable. He kept me informed of time delays.
I had originally included 2 button back bedroom chairs and ottoman, but decided against recovering as the cost estimate was too much. Mr,

accommodated me and refunded the difference in the deposit once the table and chairs were returned to me.
The table refinishing has restored the item to like-new. It is clean and sealed against spills and stains from hands. And now matches other clean teak items in the room. Mr

also repaired a small tear in the seat of one of the chairs. He had recommended a satin finish, one of 3 choices of finish, given the type of use of the table. He also advised me how to maintain the finish and what products to use and not use.

"It could not have been more pleasant or seamless. I moved into the new home, and while I loved the sofa bed, it had no purpose on the ground floor. It was perfect for a home office on the second floor that could instantly become a guest room. Our movers found it impossible to take off of the ground floor and up the stairs. Then, we tried to carry it up when our stairwell banister was being replaced, and it was still impossible, because of the ceiling height. I had no idea what I was going to do. Then I heard about

from a local mom's group listserve and called him. He was here in less than a week, and completed the job start-to-finish in about 90 minutes. I was so amazed and so grateful. After that, he spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me discussing the

"They refinished an old writing desk (it was my grandmother's -- one of our few heirlooms from her) and did a tremendous job; they also had to rebuild a piece of the desk that had broken off years ago, and you would never know it had been missing. The finished piece is beautiful -- in fact, they discovered that it originally was a different finish (it had acquired a lot of grime over the years). They were extremely responsive and flexible at every stage, including: 1) while getting an estimate (providing different estimates for different combinations of tasks), 2) picking up the furniture from our house (doing so when most convenient for us), 3) working with us to select a stain for the finished desk (letting us visit the store on a Saturday afternoon when we happened to be in the area and trying out several options), and 4) delivering the finished piece. There were some original labels and stamps on the desk, which they made sure to preserve -- that was a nice bonus touch. Friendly throughout the process, and the price was very competitive compared to other estimates (they also honored an Angie's List coupon). Highly recommended!!"
"The chairs are beautiful. Although one initially came back the wrong stain,

fixed the color for us with no charge. In addition to being a great craftsman,

"It turned out looking beautiful except for a couple of things that happened in delivery--scuffs, etc.. They immediately scheduled someone to come out and deal with those problems. I was happy with it."
