"Mr
's crew delivered my refinished desk on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. To say that I am pleased is an understatement. The desk in question dates from" about 1920 and looked every year of it. Because it has been in the family for all these years and because Mr.
said he felt he could "bring it back", I went ahead with his $600.00 price quote hoping for the best. The results are beyond anything I could have dreamed. It looks absolutely beautiful l!!!!! The satin finish is elegant and shows off the desk to its very best, and even the interiors of the drawers look fantastic. Mr.
and his people were prompt, courteous and generally just very nice people to deal with. Completely worth the $600. I would definitely call him again.

"
did a great job on our table. He is an excellent craftsman. He is not as well organized as he needs to be. He missed our first appointment and was late in" delivering the table. Nevertheless I would use him again. He is honest and does excellent work but he requires patience.

"I have no idea how comptenent these guys are at actually doing work. My guess is not stellar. When I originally reserved time, they asked for a 4 hour window on a saturday afternoon" 2-6. Ok. They said they'd call half an hour before to let me know when they were on their way. No call. No call. No call. Finally around 6:00 I emailed and texted "are you coming" No answer. Another email around 6:45. "Well I'm heading out. Thanks for nothing." No answer. Two days later I got an email "sorry our truck broke down" Clearly a lie. Also, even if they couldn't make it for a real reason like being hung up on another job, a professional would call instead of having me sit around. That email said they'd give a $20 discount if they could come out Tuesday. I said "no", I'm going to leave you a bad review on angie's list. That motivated them! They responded "Give us another
. We'll do it for half price! ($125)." OK. They didn't show up that night either. We scheduled another for Thursday. This is the third appointment. Wednesday night I sent an email "Please confirm you will be coming by tomorrow' answer: "absolutely!" Thursday afternoon I sent another email "you're coming right?" Answer "can we postpone?" NO! "But our head engineer is sick." another lie. So basically these guys are not professional. Maybe they do good work. Maybe your experience will be smooth. Mine was not. don't waste your time.

Furniture refinishing & repair

Many families have learned the hard way that antique furniture inherited from the grandparents can't be treated as roughly as modern furniture with its polyurethane finish. Here are tips on what you can do about older furniture that has become damaged. You can make some minor repairs yourself and furniture refinishing experts can work wonders.

Once a year, you can put the equivalent of mitt oil on your leather furniture and it will remove scratches and recondition the leather, says Johnson (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Christie B. of Minneapolis)

I would call the manufacturer first.

They probably have a recommended serviceman list and/or replacement parts available.

?
?
That's an interesting concept, plus now you can buy all-new furniture at your new place. You can find ratings and reviews on local real estate agents on Angie's List. I would definitely finding a few agents who are familiar with that kind of listing, or alternatviely, you may want to consider an auction house to help sell off our furniture (which you can also find on Angie's List). Check out both servcies here www.AngiesList.com

If you use promo code ANSWERS, you'll get 20% off an annual membership. Good luck with your sale!

1) contact local furniture store that handles and repairs recliners. Frequently, even if they do not have the exact spring, they can come up with a pair that is close enough in length and stiffness that you can swap both and get satisfactory performance.

2) google your local barcalounger dealer - they might be able to get parts or keep a few common ones like springs in stock

3) write the company - Corporate Address: 400 W. Main Street, Suite 210 Morristown, TN 37814 It went bankrupt in 2010 and was bought by HPC3 Furniture Holdings - manufacturing in china now but distributing in US.

4) Google the phrase - barcalounger parts - there are a number of companies listing parts for sale, including springs

We purchased a vintage
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
McCobb dining room set that needed refinishing and reupholstering. Two of the chairs were also damaged when the set was shipped to us by the seller so those needed to be repaired.
Everything came out beautifully and the entire process was smooth.
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
came to pick up the set and we had a preliminary discussion about possible finishes. Once he got to the stage where he was ready to stain the pieces, we met again and he showed us some samples on our actual piece (one of the table leaves) so that we could make a decision.
The table has brass trim around the edges and also on the leg spans and
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
painstakingly removed all of the brass, polished it, and reassembled. The table required a few repairs, which he addressed in addition to just refinishing, and he always kept us informed of his progress and if there were any unforeseen issues. He also repaired 2 of the chairs, reupholstered all 4 and refinished all 4 to match the table. He delivered everything back to our house in DC (for a small fee) and assembled our table on site.
We get so many compliments on our dining room set and we love it! Overall,
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
is very detail oriented and really seems to love what he does. He prices were the most reasonable we found in the DC Metro area and he does high-quality work.We highly recommend him and will likely use him again the next time we buy a vintage piece of furniture.

I was extremely pleased with the result. I had bought an old desk for $100 in a used furniture store several years ago to furnish a small apartment while I completed a graduate degree. When I was ready to move on, I wanted to keep the desk, even though it was rather beat up. The back of it was bulletin board and stapled on, and there were gouges and scratches here and there in the wood, and the original finish was a "not very pleasant" reddish business. But it was made otherwise solid and just had a lot of other nice features--a roll out desk, a drawer, and cabinet door that opened to a set of shelves that pulled out. I just loved this beat up old desk.
I checked around and
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
had the best price. It included pickup and delivery, and all the repairs, including putting a new back on the desk, and
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
.
Also what clinched it for me was an enthusiastic recommendation for the business from someone I just fell into conversation with at an evening reception (
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
DC is such a small town!).
They picked it up at my convenience that week and returned it as planned. And the result was just wonderful. The back completely replaced, all the hardware cleaned, and the
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
was gorgeous. A nice warm walnut. And the surface--I keep running the palm of my hand over it and it is so smooth and all the roughness and gouges and a few places where it seemed things were "lifting" gone.
My family and friends who saw the "old" desk are very impressed with the new. They were doubtful at first and thought I should buy a new one, but I would have paid much, much more than the cost of
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
, it would not have had all the nice details this old desk had (I looked and could find nothing to match it!), and I'd not have been half as attached to this desk that got me through a lot of work.
I've had the new desk now for a month and it's perfect. I've piled books on top of it, and a vase, and it doesn't scratch or anything, and everything works very nicely--drawers, cabinet shelves on wheels, etc.
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
also gave me good advice on how to pack it up safely for moving so it doesn't get dented or anything.
Definitely a good, reliable, experience.

***UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR*** I contacted
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
& Son before purchasing their "$699 General Contractor for Two Days.'' I asked them specifically if they were MHIC Licensed and the individual named
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
told me that yes they were licensed. I needed work performed in my new Silver Spring, MD condo. The condo association screens all contractors prior to allowing work to begin.
Before purchasing the coupon, I handed all information to my Condo Association and I was later contacted informing and informed that
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
and Son is not a Maryland Home Improvement Commission licensed contractor. I decided to verify this myself by going online to the State of Maryland DLLR Home Improvement Public Query. I conducted a licence
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
and discovered that they in fact were not licensed. I post this with the hopes that they will not try to scam others as they tried to scam me. If these folks conducted any type of work that resulted in a mishap, they would be very little one could do.

I would highly recommend Mr.
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
at
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
. I have a very large, heavy wood coffee table that is not an antique, but looked worn after 20+ years of use. He arrived at my home to pick up my table, and was surprised at the size (which didn't come through in the photos I sent). Despite this, he was willing to give me a reasonable price, as well as to honor my coupon from Angie's list. Because I ended up helping him move the table due to its size, he did not charge me for pick up and delivery. The table looks great! He was extremely nice and professional and I will definitely use him again.

This was a job which sounds
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
, but wasn't
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
. I got a restoration hardware vanity that was poorly designed with multidensity fiberboard wood and a top that did not overhang. As a consequence 2 vanities had water damage and this was the third. To restoration hardware's credit, they exchanged vanities twice.
The contractor that had put in the first two said he would not do it again, because it would obviously fail. Two contractors told me to just return it and to not try to do it again. Three contractors, including Shlomo, were willing to try, but they all cautioned me to be careful about not allowing water to go over the side and said that there might be trouble in the future.
I selected Shlomo because he seemed the most eager to make the effort and gave me the impression (correctly) that he cared about his craft and that he would do it right- the the best it could be done.
Two months later, there is no water damage. He weathered the craziness that went with this job and today (
Washington Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
1, 2013, there is no water damage). He is also honest- I accidentally gave him some money which he corrected. He found some mildew -in my pipes and we found some chorox and cleaned it up. I was impressed with this, because several people had worked the vanity and just left the mildew there. I had been going crazy looking for the mildew smell before he came- and he found it, told me about it, and fixed it. I would have never known if he just put the cabinet over the mildew. His daughter does most of the coordination - and she was charming. I found it possible to reach him within 24 hours of my request. And he was clearly expert in this- (by the time I got to him, I had been through a lot of discussion about the matter!!)
Anyway, if you work with him, ask him to put drop cloths down on your floor if you want them. He just put his tools, the old vanity and other stuff right on my carpet. Look at the job before he leaves and ask him to do any clean up that needs to be done. Some of the grout was in a crooked line and had been wet- but when I called it to his attention, he came back to my house at no charge and fixed it with no hesitation.
I recommend him as a contractor and encourage you to show a little more attention to detail than I did. He is an excellent craftsman but like many good craftsman, he pays more attention to the job than he does to caring for the surrounding home. He is really good.

The owner worked with me, the response was highly professional. They fit the work around my schedule, arriving early in the morning. The pieces look great. The owner is very knowledgable and I was completely satisfied.
