Instead of going the conventional route with flooring, think outside the box and try a different flooring material, such as bamboo, cork, glass or stone.

If you're planning a home gym, have you thought about the flooring? A safe workout surface can protect your joints. Learn how to choose your best option.
Vinyl plank flooring can be a cost-efficient practical choice for active rooms in your home and a worthy, less expensive alternative to hardwood flooring.
Dear Angie: We’re considering luxury vinyl flooring for our kitchen. Is this a good option for a house with pets? — Lynn A., New Milford, Connecticut
"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"
My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par. The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right. This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

in in the space. They also installed a bamboo floor which looks like it is part of the original 1927 hardwood flooring of the rest of the house.
My friends and family simply love the gorgeous glass back splash.
Unique hardware and modern appliances round out the look. I love cooking, and I really love cooking in that kitchen.
Installing my new granite counter tops proved tricky, but
We wanted to convert two rooms into one by demolishing the wall in between. Each room had different type of floors: one with carpet, the other had hard-wood installed. Both were removed and replaced with a new engineered wood looking floor. Walls
were re-painted. One door was removed and sealed so the new room has only one door. There was a gap on the ceiling after demolition of the wall which was filled with drywall finished with a special technique to match the rest of our floating popcorn tiles ceiling. Demolished wall had two electrical outlets that were relocated on the other walls. New room is intended to be a dining room in our office and it’s connected to our kitchen. Part of the project was to install a new swing door. At the beginning the door had some details that could’ve been done better. We communicated our concerns about it and the next day they came to redo the installation, fix the problems and meet our requirements.
We would definitely recommend
Kitchen: DJ PERFECTLY matched our existing oak floors and replaced our 1960's linoleum kitchen flooring with beautiful new hardwood. The transition is completely seamless and better than I ever could have hoped, especially given the fact that our existing hardwood is old and has unusual patterns. DJ's crew also completed the demolition of our old kitchen (removal of all cabinets, appliances, demo of a wall, etc), and refinished all the hardwood on our second floor. His tile installer also did a beautiful job installing the kitchen backsplash.
Bathroom: We had DJ do everything except plumbing and electrical - (difficult) demo, floor tiling and floor-to-cieling wall tiling, installation of vanity, shower doors and fixtures, inset medicine cabinet, etc. We have a quirky old house with uneven walls and irregular
He confirmed that very shoddy work had been done in one of my bathrooms. He measured and determined there was not enough space on either side of the toilet. Also, the way the plumbing was put in would make installation of the cabinets impossible. He gave concrete suggestions on improvements.
I have issues with poorly installed wooden floors. He promised to send me additional information that might be of help
I wish I had hired this company. Who knows, at the rate things are going I might have to call on them to finish and fix the project.
