Washington Flooring Installers Reviews

"Company sent out estimator who measured and provided estimate for service. We also visited their showroom and chose a color and style. They worked with us closely and were very understanding throughout the process. They did a really good job installing the product. Their price was less than the other two companies who came out.

"Wow. It was truly a privilege to work with
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
of Vintage Floors & Stairs. You have to see our "before" and "after" pictures to get the full effect of the work done, but even those cannot convey the amazing job
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did in our home.
A little back story: Our row-home, like most, is old, and includes many original fixtures that are not up to modern housing code. One thing we have always known we would have to replace (both because we wanted to ensure we met code requirements, and also because it was so hideous) was our banister. Our nasty old banister (again, see "before" pics) which was approximately 10 inches TOO SHORT. Well, now that we have a little bouncing bundle of joy, concerns like railing height suddenly matter a lot more. We decided to pull the plug and invest the money into making our upstairs hallway/stairway safer and more beautiful.
Of course, we had no idea where to turn at first as we needed both someone who would re-do the hardwood floors (which had been covered for decades with tiles and carpet) and tear out the existing rail/banister structure and build something new. We needed a craftsman, not any old flooring company. We could have gone with one company to do the floor, and another to do the banister, but were fearful that the two elements wouldn't flow well with each other if we went with separate contractors for each. After reading great reviews of Vintage Floors on Angie's List, we called them for an estimate. A total of SIX companies came to give estimates for the proposed job, and of the six, none came close to the professionalism, detail in description, and knowledge as
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
(the owner) possessed. It was an easy choice to make. My husband and I were so impressed with
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, but were afraid we wouldn't be able to hire him as his initial estimate was out of our price range. He graciously worked with us to find a price we could all work with.
The project entailed two major parts, but a few other smaller (but also important) details. We had the existing banister structure torn out and the original (but dilapidated) hardwood covered with new oak flooring on two levels - a small landing area off the main stairs and the main upstairs hallway. In addition to this, we needed the three steps leading from the landing to main hall to be reinforced, and the handrail attached in a way - and place - that would also be code compliant. It is worth noting that the three stairs that needed reinforcing had basically no structural support and were just waiting to break. Now, however, they are sturdy as anything and look fantastic, too!
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
is truly a consummate gentleman and craftsman. He treated us, and our home, with such great respect. (I should also point out that, unlike many other companies, he - the owner - did every step of the process. Nothing was sourced out to workers I had never met before, as so often happens with home construction projects). I am home with the baby most of the day, and he did a phenomenal job ensuring the highest level of cleanliness during the working hours. we've had a lot of work done in our home over the years, and this was definitely one of the best in terms of dust containment/cleanliness.
Even with the idiosyncrasies and irregularities of our 120+ year old home,
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did an incredible job perfecting every cut and piece of material to make it all look seamless. The new oak floor we had laid on top of the existing hardwood flows perfectly with the other (previously) finished hardwood in other rooms. The banister and all of its components are simply perfect (and so sturdy!). When problems presented themselves (for instance, putting the handrail back where it had been previously would have violated code requirements in one area for not allowing proper clearance),
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
would problem-solve and present my husband and I with several options - always giving his expert opinion but willing to do whatever we wanted. And in the case of the handrail, for anyone who is interested, we decided to attach it to the brick wall on the opposite side of where it was previously, which was a more complicated job, but
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did it without any complaint.
We would recommend Vintage Floors and Stairs to anyone without reservation. Fair and competitive pricing, craftsmanship and perfection beyond compare, and a gorgeous finished product. We are so, so happy we went with our gut and chose the best.

(Project Manager) worked with me to make changes that were not part of the original plan. He made the long and drawn out process of a big remodel as care free as possible. The crew was pleasant and trustworthy. The price was extremely reasonable and minus the additional changes, the project came in on budget. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone who is doing a kitchen remodel.

"I enjoyed working w/
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
who came out and measured and recommended the flooring for our condo. He was so professional and truly an enjoyment to work with. He ordered the flooring on Friday and the following Tuesday the flooring was delivered.
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
came as scheduled and began taking up the old carpet that was laid over a parquet flooring. He prepared the floor and began installing the next day. He had a helper. They cleaned up each day. It was quite a mess due to the fact we lived on the 8th floor and they cut the wood on the balcony. And the stairs had to have sawing on each 13 stairs so it did cause a lot of dust; however, they swept the floor and cleaned up most of their debris. I must say
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was on top of the work and continued to stay abreast and checked with me often to make sure I was happy. The installer,
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, was a very hard worker and took great pride in his craft.
The only suggestion I would make is that the installers should either let the owners know of the dust problem so they can
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
plastic over furniture and over bookcases to decrease the amount of work to clean up when they completed their job.

"I was very pleased with
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. Overall, they provide great value for the price. I had them refinish a couple of my worst floors when I first moved in, then did not hesitate to hire them again to do the rest of the house while I was out of town. They were quite flexible with the timing of the job, and both times that the floors dried too slowly, they sent the team over outside of normal working hours to ensure the floors were finished on schedule. The before/after transformation was dramatic, and although you probably won't get a "warm and fuzzy," friendly vibe in your dealings with some of the employees, in the end they do what they promised at a reasonable price, and that's what matters."

Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and the PHS team were terrific from start to finish! From my first interaction with
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, PHS's owner, to working with his project managers and staff day to day, the PHS team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied. As a first time home-buyer going into a renovation for the first time, the process was very intimidating. However,
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
went out of his way to make the process transparent and was always available to respond to questions--even on evenings and weekends. While I had several contractors provide comparable bids to do the work, I selected PHS because of
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's honesty. When I was under contract on another property during the contingency period--even when he stood to make a substantial amount of money from the work on the property---
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
recommended that I pull out of the contract because of serious structural concerns with the property (that did not come up during the inspection). Months later when I finally closed on my house, it was a no brainer to go with PHS. In addition to providing good customer service and quality work,
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
does not nickel and dime customers and did not charge for every unanticipated hiccup in the project. If you have a project big or small, I highly recommend
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and the PHS team. You will not be disappointed!

does good work and is responsive to phone calls and texts. He's very professional and doesn't promise on things he can't deliver. I would use him again for other home improvement jobs.

"As stated,
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was initially very responsive however we still haven't received an estimate. We followed up with measurements 11/1 and an inquiry regarding expected estimate week of 11/11 with no response. Very disappointed as initially impressed with level of professionalism.

"The work was expertly and professionally done:
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
designed and largely installed the new kitchen. The porcelain floor was expertly laid down, some difficult problems involving ductwork were cleverly managed. The installation of our appliances and the associated plumbing and electrical work was planned in close consultation with us and was expertly done. The recessed lighting and other electrical work was well
planned and executed.
The construction model for the kitchen was carried into the adjacent laundry/utility room (lighting, flooring, etc.) and a pocket door that had been partially installed between the two areas was completed and serves as a visual and sound
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
to the washer, dryer, and heat circulation.
The top landing for the spiral staircase is impressive, blending into the wood floor at that level, and some minor flaws in the initial (partial) installation of the staircase by another contractor were well managed.
Washington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did an excellent job of finishing up the family room.
Smaller, but equally professional work was done in the installation of a new bedroom ceiling fan, completion of shelving in 2 rooms, and needed work on the ceiling and crown molding in the bathroom.
An assessment of the overall electrical service needs for the total project determined the need for a much higher-capacity service box, which was installed.
All around, the work was thorough and done as if it were their own house.
