"***UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR*** I contacted
& Son before purchasing their "$699 General Contractor for Two Days.'' I asked them specifically" if they were MHIC Licensed and the individual named
told me that yes they were licensed. I needed work performed in my new Silver Spring, MD condo. The condo association screens all contractors prior to allowing work to begin. Before purchasing the coupon, I handed all information to my Condo Association and I was later contacted informing and informed that
and Son is not a Maryland Home Improvement Commission licensed contractor. I decided to verify this myself by going online to the State of Maryland DLLR Home Improvement Public Query. I conducted a licence
and discovered that they in fact were not licensed. I post this with the hopes that they will not try to scam others as they tried to scam me. If these folks conducted any type of work that resulted in a mishap, they would be very little one could do.

"I had a wonderful and swift experience getting my work completed. I initially spoke with
who was pleasant to deal with and very helpful. The guys arrived on" time and ready to work. One of the main things that impressed me was the way they protected my home and left everything as clean as when they first arrived. I expected the Handymen to be at my home for at least two days due to the amount of work i needed completed, but they tacked everything and were done by 6:30 pm as they stayed a little later to wrap things up. I love, love, love these guys and I will have them on speed dial.

"Overall I was happy with
. I added a number of things onto the job that I hadn't told them about beforehand, and they were accomodating. Some of the work" was not easy. As far as I can tell thus far, their work was good quality. I'm giving them a "B" rather than an "A" because they initially tried charging me for more time than they actually worked. I pushed back and they relented, but I wish they wouldn't have done that. I'd hire
again, but I'd just keep careful track of the time.

You need a general contractor - prefereably one who specializes in additions, because you have excavation, waterproofing, concrete, concrete cutting, carpentry, door and window, etc trades to coordinate.

The cost will depend a great deal on your topography around the house - if the base of the window will be above ground level at least 6 inches, then could run about $500 for a legal egress window purchase and about $1000-2000 for installation, depending on how deep into the concrete you have to cut.

If the bottom of the window will be below ground level, then to call it a bedroom (which mandates legal sized second egress and usauully at least one window)  then you will have two choices - bring it out into a solid watertight concrete storm cellar with collar to keep water out, stairs, and and weather and bug-tight cellar door that is inward-opening, which means a lot of space for stairs and landings top and bottom, or bring it out into an oversized window well at least 36 inches in diameter, and with steps to ground level, with adequate drainage and waterproofing to keep it dry. Either way, sometimes about as easy to put in an outside door as a window, and might raise property value more. Cost from $2-5,000 depending on how deep into concrete wall you have to dig, whether concrete wsall needs reinforcing with steel frame because of the depth of cut, how easy the digging is, and what your water conditions are near the foundation. The last thing you want to do is create an easy water or vermin ingress with your egress.

Dictated by Federal LAW , you will need a Licensed and EPA Certified HVAC Contractor

to make such repairs . In fact , by law , ONLY A licenesed HVAC contractor can buy or install

said eguipment , NOT A handyman nor general contractor !

YES , You should have an A.C. sleeve surrounding the through the wall unit . These sleeves will usually accompany NEW products , either as a package or an add on equipment purchase.

Contact a Licenesed PROFFESSIONAL at once !

It depends on what type of ramp you need. If it is built out of wood you could look for a carpenter or a deck company. If you are looking for a concrete ramp a mason would be what you are looking for. There are also metal ramps and I believe some medical supply companies may carry them or be able to steer you in the right direction. As for insurance coverage I am not sure. You may have coverage and would be best talking to your agent. Depending on why you need this ramp there may even be programs through your local government or even some of the local charities might help. It might be a project a local Scout Troop might help out on.

I have never been so happy with a company. They are busy but responsive, efficient, and timely. Some of the staff are very talented from a design standpoint, and I learned to trust their judgment implicitly. I would trust them to do almost anything, and the owner will be very honest about what he feels they can do and what might be out of their scope. The prices are very reasonable, and the owner is always responsive if there is a problem that needs attention after completion of the job.

Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We met with quite a few contractors for this project and felt
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the one who had the best understanding of what we were trying to do. He was prompt with his bid, came in at a great price and had all the details covered. It was an easy choice to use
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
(PHS) for our basement remodeling project.
The project itself was a complete remodel of the basement in our 100 year old row house.
The PHS team turned our completely unfinished cave in a wonderful living space. This work included:
- Framing out a great room, two closets (one under the stairs), an unfinished storage space and a bathroom. - Repair of cracks and craters in the concrete floor. - New stairs with a white risers and dark finished treads. - Moving of gas lines so they did not pass through the finished space. - Some repair on the existing duct work, as well as incorporation of duct system into the basement design. - Soffits around the hanging duct work and plumbing lines running along the ceiling. - Pointing up of a brick wall to prepare for priming and paining. - Construction of a custom built-in shelving unit built to our specifications. - new electric and recessed lighting throughout. - Drywall, trim, new doors, painting and carpet installation. - New tile floors in the laundry area and bathroom. - Installation of new tub, vanity, shower tile, toilet and all bathroom fixtures. From start to finish the PHS team was great with all aspects of the project. There was never a time where i couldn't contact either
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
or our project manager with questions or comments. Our project manager often made it a priority to meet with us intermittently to discuss progress, challenges, questions and next steps, as well as getting our input on how to proceed in various areas. there were quite a few things they completed that were above and beyond the scope of the contract. their goal was for us to be happy with the end product. We love our new basement and the couldn't be happier with the job PHS did.

The first challenge was correctly diagnosing the source of attic and porch roof leaks through what appeared to be sound roofing and masonry. The second was coming up with a creative plan for solving the osmotic leaking without a big rebuilding project. Pat came up with some cost-effective and sound solutions for both problems. The work was executed perfectly.

This was a huge job that lasted nearly a month, with excellent results across the board. Every aspect of his work was professional, with the exception of drop cloths. You have to be very emphatic that his crew use them everywhere. He unfailingly agreed to our every request, when we made one. The finishng details required several follow up visits, but he always responded quickly and thoroughly. I was particularly impressed by the quality of his workmanship - the house positively gleamed when he was done, inside and out. What had been an eyesore of peeling paint in the basement now looks positively inviting. A bonus was the fact that we could bundle all his services, saving money. His price for the powerwashng was especially good.

I originally gave a negative review to
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
because my initial phone call to get an estimate was not returned.
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did finally get back to me with apologies and asked for an opportunity to bid on the job. From that point on, the professionalism of everyone from Prime was exemplary.
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out to bid on the job and spent well over an hour discussing the job with me, including a lot of time exploring the possible causes of evident water damage to the walls of the ground floor bay. He was very straightforward in discussing the possibility of worst case scenarios with old homes (it's a
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
row house on Capitol Hill) and how that could affect the cost of the job. He then came back two more times to discuss the project further and answer my questions. None of the other contractors who provided estimates spent more than 20 minutes to assess the scope of the job and none was nearly as informative as
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Even though Prime's bid was not the lowest, I decided to go with them because of the thoroughness and honesty of
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's assessment of the job and because
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was to be the project manager. As it turned out, we did encounter a worst case scenario in the ground floor bay. When we removed the existing wall we found that the inner course of brick was disintegrating, threatening the structural integrity of the entire front of the house. Both
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
spent a lot of time with me going over possible solutions, answering my questions and listening to my concerns about the best way to deal with this unanticipated situation. They put a lot of thought into the problem and, after considering various alternatives, came up with a cost effective solution that solved the problem and looks great. Throughout the job, either
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
or
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, sometimes both, came out to the house nearly every day to check on progress and ask if I had any concerns. When I added some items to the job that I had forgotten to consider, they said fine, provided an estimate, and simply did the work without hesitation. I couldn't have asked for closer attention to the job or better communication. The crew that did the work was equally professional. They were hard working and conscientious about detail, which distinguishes a great job from a merely good job.
Washington General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the foreman, also had numerous small suggestions to improve things. If there was any question about what I wanted, he asked me. They kept the work areas as clean as possible and took great care to protect areas that were not being touched and furniture that could not be moved. We are thrilled with the results. Both the ground floor and the kitchen look absolutely great. I have dealt with a lot of contractors for jobs both large and small and Prime ranks as one of the two best I have every worked with. I will hire them again without hesitation if we do further work on the house in the future. Thanks guys.

Had the company come out and do some drywall work and trim work. The handyman was very professional and worked very quickly. Quality of the work was very good. Would definitely use them again.
