Also, don't stop at the duct work. Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician. They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill. You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved. If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

Finally, my advice, get more than one opinion. The first company is also on Angie's list and rated an overall B.
Initially, I set a weekend appointment and called to confirm with the business office the day before the service appt. They assured me of the time and I assumed the technician would meet me at that date/time. Wrong! I got a call in the morning saying that the technician was running two hours behind. Because I wanted to use my chimney that week, I made myself available for the later time frame and told the receptionist that I would appreciate an update if anything changed.
I rushed home from an activity to meet the technician at his new arrival time but he was not there. I waited for twenty minutes after the projected arrival time but no one showed up.
When I called the office to find out what was going on, the receptionist responded by saying that the driver had been circling my area for 40 minutes to find parking. They tried to call me to see if I had a parking spot. I thought that was BS because the extensive form I had to fill out prior to booking the apartment asked if I had a parking spot and I responded "No." Furthermore ,I had notified the business office that they would have to find street parking that morning. Had the person been on-time, they may have been able to get a street spot. Finding parking near downtown DC at 5 pm on Saturday is not viable, especially when there is a large rally. (They didn't seem to understand that the
The receptionist refused to rebook the technician for that weekend because of the "traffic." They basically had terrible planning and time management and I was being penalized for their mistake.
As the reader can tell, I am still frustrated by the experience. When offered other times to rebook, I seriously considered asking for a refund. I gave them one more shot because I really needed the services completed quickly.
When I finally got rebooked for an appt TWO WEEKS LATER, the technician showed up a little bit late. He was cordial and started hooking up hoses to the vents. I had to run to a preexisting appointment so I left him to complete the tasks.
From what I can tell, the technician did clean the vents and inspect the chimney. The vents were half open and half closed when I came home. I would have preferred that he left them open after cleaning to save me the step of procuring a tall ladder and adjusting them myself but at least he cleaned them. Afterward, he was willing to provide me with an invoice for service for my records, albeit days after my request was submitted.
For any DC people looking to use this service, I only recommend it if you have parking and are very patient.
