The revised estimate of $4,200 was more than I liked, but from searching online, it was still roughly in line with what a portico with four fiberglass columns should cost. So I decided to proceed. As for payment, 1/3 of the $4,200 was paid once the contract was signed, 1/3 paid on the first day of work after the materials were delivered, and the final 1/3 was paid upon completion.
