Priority has been providing pest control for our home for over a year. They come out quarterly. Initially they provided plastic and replaced some insulation that was destroyed by some 'critters' which were living in our crawl space. The critters are gone and the crawl space is clean and dry.

When I called to schedule an appointment for a termite treatment it was never explained to me the deal was only for a pest treatment. When the rep came out and told me what he was scheduled to do for us, I asked him for a quote on the termite treatment and he said it would be about $1100.00! When I questioned him about the wording in the ad, he agreed it was a bit misleading. The Big Deal reads; "$99 Termite/Pest Inspection & Treatment - Plus Re-Treatment Warranty and More" Further in the review it states: Complete exterior pest treatment on foundation for general pests (such as ants, beetles, roaches, crickets, ticks, Black Widow and Brown Recluse spiders, etc.) with Termidor (WHICH IS USED TO TREAT TERMITES) Here's the (partial) Deal: Checking for active termites in or on your home and also for evidence of inactive termite infestations Inspection also includes evaluating possible troublesome conditions conducive to termite and general pest problems such as: ........... No charge One Year Termite Protection and Re-treatment Warranty if home qualifies at conclusion of inspection which includes: 1) Annual Inspection 2) No charge re-inspections when termite activity is suspected 3) No charge termite treatment to infested areas when termites are found to be active in or on the structure The Home Pest Advantage Plan is renewable each year at $239.
This ad is totaling misleading and it does lead one to believe this does include a termite treatment. There should be in Big Bold letters that IT DOES NOT INCLUDE TREATMENT FOR TERMITES. THIS IS WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I am very disappointed with this company and Angie's List for backing this ad. This is simply a way for this company to get into my home and sell me on additional services.
Please note, the rep that came out was very nice and professional, I am not badmouthing him, he was just doing his job, my beef is with
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
and the add they put out and Angies List for putting this misleading ad out there.

First the salesman,
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
, came to our house and we discussed what was needed under our crawlspace and in the attic. We explained that there was evidence of rat activity in the crawlspace and garage. We decided to sign a contract for both termite and pest control. (It was a bit pricey because we had to pay for termite retreatment, but worth it to us to make the switch.) Then
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
came to set traps for rats. He and another tech returned the following week to do the termite and pest control service as well as try to find where rats might have been entering the crawlspace. They found two probably entry locations and sealed them up. They set traps tin various locations and in our attic. They also vacuumed the attic and the garage where there were droppings. Today
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
returned to vacuum the crawlspace and to check traps in all locations. No rat activity was found.
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
is wonderful and
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
, the office manager, is very professional and efficient. So far,
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
has provided excellent service and we have confidence in them. It appears that they hire quality people to work for them.

We originally purchased the company's big deal to do a home inspection and then spray for pests. The technician was on time and professional. He inspected the whole interior and exterior of the house, removed cobwebs/spiders from exterior windows and doorways, sprayed interior of home for pests.
We have since had them come back to install new vent covers on our crawl space. And we have just hired them to do quarterly inspection/sprayings.

The exterminator was punctual and thorough. He answered all my questions, and explained the different services available. I plan to contract this company for pest services in the near future.

I will say the first service went well and they did impact the mosquito population; however they did not seem to have any impact on no-see-ums, in fact I had never seen them as bad. I do not know if the treatment reduced whatever eats no-see-ums but it warrants consideration.
My concern comes when the company came by for the second treatment. I did not call and schedule the treatment; they assumed that I wanted the treatment. They where correct, so when I saw the email saying the company would be by the next day between the hours of 8am to 5pm, I decided not to call and cancel; however, the email came in at 4:04pm the day prior to the service so the reaction window to reschedule is small. The email stated the following:
You have an upcoming scheduled treatment from
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
. Spraying will occur between 8am and 5pm. If you may not be home, please be sure to secure pets and unlock gates so our technician has access. If for any reason you need to reschedule,
please give the office a call at 494-3440.
On the day of the service at 8:49am, I was outside cleaning up with my son and dog. I did not hear anybody knock on the door, nor did I hear anybody say they were going to start. What I did hear is two blowers start up. I told my son to get in the house and as he was going in the back door from the rear deck on of the individuals blowing rounded the corner and sprayed in the direction of my son. Both company individuals saw me and saw that I was yelling and signaling to stop, which they did. The workers told me that they knocked but nobody answered. I was upset they started the treatment without clearing the yard first and I sent them away. I immediately called the local number, same as above, to talk to somebody in the
local shop. I did get somebody in a national call center, who told me repeatedly “As I have told you, we can only forward your message”.
The local rep called me back fairly quickly. My concern was the workers started without clearing the yard first. What I received back was a qualified apology. Sorry but 90% of our clients work during the day. Putting aside the possible escalatory nature of the messaging, I recommended again that the company should call out and check the yard before they have their workers start. The local rep was very focused on the original message, and cut me off a few times to repeat the 90% theme and sometimes we spray the neighbors too, when they pop up from behind a hedge. I stated that they should visual check rather than play the odds that people are not there. She disagreed with me saying that knocking and blowing isn't playing the odds. When I tried to interject my point, I was told that I should stop yelling. Bottom line if you are not visually checking and you are blowing without calling out, you are gambling that people are not there, and I did not yell.
Eventually I did get the local rep to say that it was a good idea to change their procedures to call out and visually clear the yard before they start up the blowers and start spraying. She did not say they would do this, just acknowledged that it was a good idea. Until the procedures are changed I would highly recommend finding a different service.
Issues:
1. Spraying without clearing they area
2. National call center with no immediate local access
3. Prioritizing speed over safety as a policy that has been acknowledged but not yet changed.
4. Making defensive excuses at the call center and by the local rep.
These above policies and practices are showstoppers for me and why they get an F for professionalism.

After talking to
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
in the office, she told me that
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
would be coming by later in the day (early afternoon) to make an
inspection and determine what was needed. I called
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
at around 10 am and at 1:30 pm
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
was here and made a
thorough inspection inside and out . He knew what needed to be done and gave me a full report at what he had
found.
I had heard some scratching in my attic and walls from time to time over a long period but nothing regularly and they only lasted about 15 sec each time. I had my gutters replaced a few days earlier and the found a large rotted out faccia board,
which they replaced. Two years ago my next door neighbor had a roof rat problem and the repair to the damage cot
him $2,500 to repair. Those two things told me I needed to check see if anything was happening.

Two days after
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
was here they scheduled
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
to come out to do the work around 2:30 pm.
That morning
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
called me to see if I could meet him at 10:30 am and rain was expected and he wanted to get me taken care of. It actually worked out better for me and he was very prompt. He set bait traps in the attic and a large one outside, as well as spraying for insects around the foundation of my house. He took the time to fully explain to me what he was doing
and assured me that the traps were perfectly safe around my dog. He even opened the traps and put the baits so I could see how they work. Here and gone in about 1 hour.
Over a two week period I found four dead rats around the outside of the house. I called
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
to let them know and they sent
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
and
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
out the next day to make another inspection and check the traps.
The trap in the attic was ok but the one on the outside of
the house (set beside my AC unit) had no bait remaining in it. They put new baits in it.
They told me to keep a look out for any more dead rats and to keep them advised. They said they would come by anytime to check them. Bottom line is I had a rat issue and didn’t know it.
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
has impeccable customer service from the office to the field technicians. They are both professional in appearance and very knowledgeable. They welcome questions and are more than happy to answer them. They told me that they would
gladly come out anytime I felt they needed too, I only had to give them a call. They told me that they wantevery job to be done as if it were their home.
I HIGHLY recommend
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
Control.

Prompt service. I contacted a few providers in town, and
Virginia Beach Exterminators Provider Name Locked
was the only one to call me. The price was reasonable and well worth the investment if it meant we could actually go outside (we live on an inlet with stagnant water, so mosquitos are a constant from April until October). When I agreed to the service, they set up an appointment for the following day. The employees arrived as I was coming home, greeted me, confirmed details about the yard, and immediately set to work. That day, we went outside and were unbitten. The kids went down the street and were eaten alive. I call this a

Both technicians were very thorough. They did offer to return to treat the rat problem for an additional $200. This included removal of all rodent feces, sealing the rodent entry points and placing an exterior rodent station. We decided to obtain a contract with them for any future problems. This does not include termite treatments.
