After contacting a few other contractors prior to joining Angies List, I finally found
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
Decks. I called them and the owner,
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
, called me back right away and we set up a day and time to discuss my project.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
met me at my home to review the area and review my plans. We discussed my plans and changed a few minor things. He gave me a rough estimate based on my design and the selected materials of construction. I was happy with the rough estimate and I requested a formal estimate. A few days later I received my formal estimate via email. The cost was perfect for what I budgeted and I gave
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
the approval to proceed.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
mentioned that there was approximately 3-4 week delay due to work back log which was okay with me. He asked for $500 down to get the ball rolling and he prepared the formal drawings for the Town to review and obtained the building permit.
About 2 weeks after approval, I received a call from
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
just before Labor Day indicating that he had a customer postpone a previosuly scheduled project and that he could work my project into teh schedule the day after Labor Day. I was more than happy to say yes. On Tues, his crew arrived in the morning and started to measure and dig the post holes. The holes were complete on Tues and the concrete poured on Wed.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
arranged for the Town inspector on Wed to inspect the holes prior to the concrete pour. The structure and 95% decking was completed by the end of the day. The hand rail, steps and skirting were completed before 5pm on Friday. The inspector returned on Friday to review the finished project. The entire job was completed in 4 days.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
's team was professional, courteous and the yard was left in great shape after the job was completed.I love this deck. Thanks

We received a few estimates and narrowed it down to two one being
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
(the owner)
He was great to deal with, has awesome technology to design the job and priced right in line with the best estimate we received.
It was really a coin toss at the end and we picked someone else to do the work but I am certain
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
would have done a great job. I would say my wife and I went back and forth a dozen times before we finally just had to pick between the two.
If in the future we need another porch or patio I will 100% call
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
again.

I hired
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
because when I called for an estimate and
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
had them call me right back, scheduled a time and
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and Ed
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
gave me a very thorough explanation of the scope of the job and were willing
to do the extra's that I wanted such as replacing the wood railing atop the
wrought iron rail and replacing a door on a water heater closet on the deck,
this was outside the normal scope of their business. They also provided a complete
breakdown of the work and cost which was very reasonable for all the work done.
They removed a leaking second story deck and replaced it with a correctly graded deck. Also did the extra work that I wanted to perfection.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
who
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
the team was professional, the guys cleaned up every evening, communicated with me each step
of the way. They worked long hours and completed each faze daily.
The job required removing the old deck, the railing, replacing the fascias, sealing and painting
all the wood there. Then doing the deck and putting every thing back, with out any problems. This was no easy task because below the deck was a Glass Greenhouse which they took great care to protect. It suffered no damage, which points to the care given to each detail of the job.

Overall, this was a great experience, they did the job right the first time and in a very timely manner because of
the dedication to detail and the outstanding work done by their crew.
I would highly recommend them.

We had just moved into our house & our insurance company notified us that our deck was not up to code & that they would drop our coverage (in ~45 days) if we did not make it up to code by adding spindles to the railing to make sure there weren't any gaps more than 4" of space. We decided to have werestoredecks do the work to bring it up to code as well as wash & stain it (as it looked like the deck had not had any treatment in several years). The carpentry work on the railings cost $873 (includes material costs) &
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and his crew made it look great, natural & kept our sightlines through the railing of the beautiful woods behind our house.
In terms of the washing/staining (which he did not personally do),
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
had told us that after treatment, the new wood would be hardly distinguishable from the old (~30 yrs) wood. Immediately after staining, the new wood looked way way lighter than the old wood. It didn't look terrible, but it was disappointing. We emailed
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and he came out & took a look & agreed that it was much lighter than he expected too. He came out & had them paint it/stain it darker and now it looks 1000% better. You can definitely tell the difference between the old wood and the new now, but it matches much better (and we expected that they wouldn't be completely indistinguishable) and we are really happy with it.
The washing/staining treatment is a little expensive ($1100), but
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
says that their treatment is longer lasting than most on the
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
(he said it should normally be done every 3-4 years using their treatment & because our deck is so shaded from the nearby trees, we might be able to wait even longer).
We were very satisfied with all the work
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
did as well as their excellent costumer service.

They were everything our friends told us they were. Very professional, kind and respectful. Always right on time which is important to me since I hate waiting around for people. What I really appreciated was they always cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day.
The quality of their work was terrific. I was really very pleased with the whole experience and would use them again and recommend them to others.
Our friends found them on Angie's list and then recommended them to us.

was very busy, and it took a month or more to get the work started. I wanted the steps to be 5 inch rise and 12 inch depth. They had no problem re-thinking the plan. I needed a 5' x 6' landing. I also wanted an easy-grip handrail. Everything was built to code of treated pine. My wife and I are very-well pleased with the outcome, and I plan to contact
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
with a bigger job in 2015.

I called 3 companies to give us quotes and
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
was the last one we contacted. The price was right around what the other companies gave us but in fact the products that were offered by the other companies were of better quality or had better features.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
came to our house and we showed him what we wanted. Yet he was very nice when we told him we wanted a certain travertine he said he could see if he could get us a good price but we needed to decide and sign on that day. We went ahead and signed. They started the job and my husband had some concerns that he discussed with
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and he said don't worry about it he'll handle it. Since then we've had to call him twice to come out and fix the issue which are loose/falling tiles on the deck. The nozzles in the the pool where the water comes out keep falling off. We have broken valves on our pool pump, we purchased a heater and a new chlorinated system but now we have to replace the pool pump after spending $25,000.

My roof had some minor leakage during the heaviest rains last fall and spring, so I purchased a deal from
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
, "$49 for a Roof Inspection and $1000 Credit", which said (among other things) "Evaluate common points of concern, Make recommendations on improvements", and "Protect your investment with a tune-up and credit toward repairs!"
6/11/14 -
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and a colleague came to perform the inspection; I described my concerns, and showed them where
the leaks had occurred.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
's inspection revealed a soft spot on the roof in the right location to be the source of the leaks. I contracted with them that day to replace the roof, and to do the gutters at the same time, scheduled for the week of 8/4.
7/29 – I sent email asking when will work begin? Reply – “I will see when we can get you scheduled”. More back and forth without an answer over the next several days.
8/7, got home to find the old roof had been torn off, so at least I now I knew when work would begin. I sent email asking about what was found re: that soft spot. No reply.
8/8, roof installation. At end of day, a knock on the door: “We’re done. You’re gonna cut a check for us?” I explained the work was not yet complete; the gutters were yet to be done. That the gutters were to be done was a surprise to this individual; he immediately got on the phone to (I assume) the home office. Gutters seemed to be a surprise to whoever was on the other end
of the line, too.
8/9, Cursory roof inspection (by me). Found soft spot still there. Found damage: siding split / broken. Found damage: gutters damaged - if the roofers knew the gutters were to be replaced, this would be excusable… but they did not. None of this was mentioned by the roofing crew; I would have preferred honesty and a promise to repair the damage rather than demanding a check.
Also found the roof had been architecturally redesigned - in one valley the overhanging section of the roof was not connected with the roof below; the join to the right of the overhang was covered with enameled metal flashing. Now this valley is covered with
roofing material and somewhat sloppily finished at the ends, including the overhanging section of the roof that was not connected. This is probably functional, but is not aesthetically pleasing. I would have preferred to be consulted about this change before it was made (I was home during roof installation).
Sent email saying what’s up? Found damage, soft spot still there… several emails back and forth, me saying “this is bad”, ME trying to convince me the soft spot is not a problem, everything is sound and good. This is contrary to everything I have read, that soft spots are bad and if left unrepaired will only get worse. I was told the roof is "guaranteed not to leak", but when I asked for details of this guarantee I was told I would get an "installation warranty". Haven’t seen that yet. I was also told there will be a final inspection before payment, and concerns will be addressed.
8/22, new gutters installed.
8/25,
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
left voice mail asking for payment. Returned call and left voice mail asking about that final inspection; also sent email. Several days pinging both voice mail and email without response; 8/28 PM got return call; set time for final inspection 9/4.
9/4, demonstrated to
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
that the soft spot he found was still there; showed the architectural redesign.
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
promised in writing to repair the soft spot and have roofer explain about that redesign – I would be called the next day. I gave them the final payment.
9/13, haven’t heard a word from
Logan Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
Exteriors.
The ME workers do good work, where ME seems to have problems is in management: poor communications, poor coordination,
poor attention to detail. My experience was definitely not what I expected from an A rated company.

Awesome! He got to work exactly when promised and finished on time and on budget. The space is fabulous and we've used it almost continuously. The workmanship is outstanding--this thing may last longer than the house. It ties in with the rest of the house and doesn't look like an add-on at all. We are thoroughly enjoying the new addition.

The installation was deplorable, only pictures show how horrible it was installed, boards cut way too short, screws coming through and sticking out, screws not screwed to anything, uneven boards to trip over, a chalking jog that you would have to see to believe, discolored boards, no finish work at all, screw heads sticking up , the debris from the tear-out of the wooden deck was left under the new deck and all over my yard. They had to completely remove the new installation and start over. They advertise that they are highly trained and experienced. In my experience they are highly UNtrained and highly INexperienced and provide NO customer service. They are extremely UNprofessional. They clearly took advantage of me because I am a 71 year old widow. They told me it would take four to seven days to complete the job. It had been forty days and my deck is still NOT finished. I have paid them in full because they demanded it. It's been a nightmare. Please save others from this awful company.
