Visit #2: April 29: A different tech showed up, over an hour later than the scheduled time. He scoped through one toilet and told me that about two thirds of the pipe he could access from that toilet was rusted through and needed replacement. He didn't have time to finish the job - scoping from a second toilet to evaluate the rest of the drains. He charged me $370 and I made the mistake of paying, even though the work wasn't complete.
Visit #3: After I complained to management, they agreed to come out and complete the job, on May 9. They scoped from the other toilet and said that most of that drain was also rusted through and needed replacement. They promised to send me a bid to do the work, and said that if they did the work they would credit me the $370 I'd paid, toward the repair.
I called many times but never received a bid and none of my calls were returned. Finally, I fax'ed them demanding a refund of the $370, since I was going to have to get someone else to repeat the scoping - meaning that I got nothing of any use to me in exchange for their work. They never replied to the fax.
I had someone else scope the sewers. The sewers are fine - no leaks at all. I'm curious what I would have done if they'd submitted a bid for the work; I could have paid them thousands of dollars to repair sewers that didn't need repair.
They couldn't finish installing the extra gas line for the grill because of bad weather, but came out a couple of days later and finished that. We couldn't be happier with the job and the friendliness and professionalism of the plumbers. We would highly recommend them and will be calling them for our future plumbing needs.
Bait and switch price. Possible improper snake method used, no running water while pipe was snaked. Discussed a $70 price on the phone with
Possible misunderstanding on the price,
Honestly, I think the
Price aside, I question if the dry snake was effective since no running water was used to help give the pipe a deep cleaning. I think I will have to get the kitchen sink re-snaked with the water running at some point. At this point, I doubt they would come back to re-snake.
