" was one of several companies I got quotes for (as well as a recommendation from a friend who had also used them) and they came in very" similar if not a little cheaper for the termite work. I have dealt with at twice now, he actually came out again a year later to inspect some wood that I am replacing. Really good person to talk to, doesn't give you a hard sell or try to bend your arm but really thorough none the less. I will definitely be using them if/when I need to in the future. Use these guys, you won't regret it.

"Two visits per year are covered in the contract, which has no expiration date; it automatically renews unless the customer cancels 30 days in advance in writing." It states that there is no additional charge if retreatment is needed. It also states that they will treat the exterior every Spring and Fall without notification. The treatment was satisfactory, but a bit expensive ($210 per visit). Their first visit was December 3, 2013 to treat for mice. They probably came once the following spring [2014] to treat for ants. I prefer to be notified before home services and had requested they phone first. This condition was added to the contract I signed. I don't remember if they called or not and can't find a record of the spring treatment, but think it occurred. When an invoice for the second year arrived in September I was surprised, expecting the annual renewal to be in December since that was when my service had begun. I phoned about the invoice, and being unhappy with automatic contract renewals as well as uncertain that I would be notified before treatments, as had been agreed, decided to cancel. Despite the "30 days in advance in writing" requirement, the person I spoke to agreed to cancel my contract immediately. She then confirmed that I would not be charged and that I had a zero balance.

Angie's Answers

You have a lot of questions. I will try to cover them all.

First, mice can fit through a hole the size of a dime.
Second, unlike rats, mice are very small; it would take a major infestation to generate a persistent odor as indicated.

Elimination starts by sealing the exterior foundation of the home, door sweeps, broken windows, cracks in the foundation, holes around electrical service, water faucets and dryer vents.

Secondly, food sources must be eliminated. Mice only need 1 gram of food a day and they extract water directly from the food they digest.

Next, mice infestations are more localized than people think, bait under the house might not have any effect. Heat sources like refrigerators and hot water heaters are suspect as a base of operation.

Snap traps are highly effective when used where dropping are found. Use a variety of bait, peanut butter (avoid this if children are present), brownie, fruit and even dental floss tied to the pedal (nesting material).

As for the odor, look for an enzyme based cleaner / deodorizer.

If the problem continues seek the help of a Pest Control Professional with rodent experience.

Hope that helps,

Andrew Deluca

The quickest way I've found to get rid of them (as opposed to preventing them - see answer above) is to put a half cup of cider vinegar (must be cider vinegar) in a jar or bowl and put a half-dozen drops of dishwashing liquid on top of it.  Leave out on a counter wherever the problem exists. Empty and refill as needed.
Legally, it needs to be pest control - wildly boring technical explanation regarding Federal pesticide laws that I won't bother you with.  Having said that, depending on where they are located in your chimnet, you could do it yourselt.  Most wasp control products will shoot 12'-20'.  So, if they are in a lower section of your chimney you wait until dark (they return to their nests before dark) and reach up above your damper and spray the nests.  If you're not averse to being on your roof, do the same thing from the top.  Otherwise, hire a professional.
An exterminator - you have to careful that the pests are driven out of the attic BEFORE the entrance they were using is closed up, otherwise you have dead decaying animals in your attic - can cause a stench that lasts for weeks.

Pest Control reviews in Hurricane

Serviceman arrived promptly and treated the affected area. He then checked the house thoroughly inside and out for any other signs of infestation. He instructed me on termite habits and showed me what to look out for. I will get an inspection next year at no charge. Very easy people to do business with, and I appreciated their professionalism.

Had an extra long dryer vent so it took extra time and dealing with tons of lint to get the dead animals out. Not to mention the horrific odor. The technician workeed extremely hard and cleaned up all the lint and debis that fell out of the vent.

The technician was on time, professional, courteous and took the time to explain everything to me. I have had one other company spray for pests and they seemed to be completely annoyed by my presence, wanted to get in, out and on to the next job. Bonanza was the opposite and I have had much better results with their spray as I have seen no pests since ...More they showed up.
- Jon W.

was very professional, on time and explained in detail how the spray works. It is safe for both pets and kids. Excellent job and I will definitely have them back.
- Cheryl V.

It went really well. The technician wore boot protectors and made sure that I was completely satisfied. Two weeks later they called to make sure everything was going ok and when I told them about the ants, they came back and sprayed again.
- Amy F.

Eventually OK. But it took an extended period. The signed agreement was they would set traps and check them every other day. They checked them at weekly intervals - thus dead rodents were in patio traps for days after caught with accompanying smells. Profuse apologies when we called after first week, said it would be corrected, and then same thing ...More happened again. After 2 weeks and 2 visits, they said they would do it one more time and them filled in suspected lairs.

- Robin P.

We have been dealing with Ace for over a year now and always find them friendly, knowledgeable and punctual. They go out of their way to ensure we are satisfied at each visit. We are very satisfied and I recommend them to friends.
- Debi W.

I had been having an ongoing problem with ants that I tried to take care of myself, but they kept coming back, so I called and they scheduled someone to come out the next morning. The technician was on time and very professional. He took the time to discuss my ant problem. He treated for the ants, as well as treated outside the ...More house for general pests. Great service!
