"During the course of a year or so after taking jewelry to
and talking to him I found out that he worked with D.A.R.S. They are a non profit for retraining people" who have been injured, displaced by health, or other reasons. I asked how much he would charge and he replied with what was roughly 2000.00 a month. My dad died and left me some money and after my accident that left handicapped I thought I could maybe pursue doing some jewelry work and check out getting trained through
. I did not know if I could physically handle doing sedentary work that long at a time so I asked to start with a month and see where it would go. Well after three days I was in misery from working at the make shift station he let me set up to cast molds. I was in so much pain while there and having issues just getting around. He was apparently worried I was going to fall or something he was saying maybe he should have me sign a waiver so that if I got hurt there that he would not be held liable. I went in on the forth day and told him I could hang and the pain was to much. He then informed me that there was no refunds on tuition. Most reputable schools will at least give you partial refunds. At that point I said you could at least make a ring or something for me. This day and time 2000.00 dollars isn't anything to scoff at and that was good money and all profit for little or no work on his part for three days. He said I could come back anytime to finish the month of class, then said ok he would make me a standard issue wedding band and that if I was lucky he would not make out of scrap and dirty gold. Took my size and said to check back. Went back on a couple occasions since. The first time I went back he told be he had not had time and that he would call me. Well after a couple months passed I went next door to his shop to inquire about the concealed hand gun class they offer and they were closed. So I went next door to
since I was there to see how the ring was going and see what he knew about the class next door since he carries a fire arm being in the business he is in. His first comment was that he was doing that as a favor and that if I bothered him again he wouldn't do anything. Then informed that he was an ex con and that he didn't need a permit to carry or shoot somebody. Needless to say I did not feel real comfortable at that point and left. My wife stopped in after that to inquire and he told her that he would not do anything and there were no refunds. I know the whole thing was kind of informal and I only have a hand written receipt for the class but I think he could have been a little more compassionate and if he had no intention of doing the ring he could have given me back half at least considering my condition and the situation. He would have still made a 1000.00 bucks for three days that's still not bad. Not very professional at all and not very compassionate.

"Due to returning a piece of jewelry purchased previously, I chose to buy a Citizen Eco-Drive watch, since they DO NOT provide any refund except store credit. I bought the watch 6/13/13," which came with assurance of a "Limited Five-Year Warranty." This was sold to me at a 'Sale Price' of $325.00. This is a watch which should virtually never need a battery, since it recharges itself using light, and should run for at least a year WITHOUT RECHARGING... I failed to make sufficient efforts to recharge it regularly, since I did not study the accompanying materials as I should have. The watch stopped in late August of 2014, though I was wearing it while outside, exposed to direct sunlight (the most recommended form of recharging). I made several further attempts at recharging it, without success. I then took it to
, where I had purchased it; their solution was to make further efforts to recharge it with light sources... My roommate found a service center via the internet known as "Watch Repairs USA," which came up when the name Citizen was entered. I contacted them via e-mail, and they stated that they could repair the watch. I was furnished with a prepaid UPS shipping label, and mailed the watch to them on 9/5/14, for a repair estimate. I received the estimate 9/18/14, which was $250.00, for a thorough overhaul and repair. I did not inquire about the 'Five-Year Warranty,' as the receipt which I had from
was too faint, and confusingly scribbled to be legible in photocopied form, and I was NOT going to release the original... I paid the $250.00 with my VISA card, and was notified that the repair process might take 4-6weeks. I believe that Watch Repair USA did a good job, even though the price was a bit steep. Further research would later uncover that Citizen has only THREE 'authorized' centers within the continental U.S., several others being listed as "closed." I felt that the watch is of good enough quality to invest the repair cost, promising myself to be more mindful of it's recharging needs. The moral, then, is CAVEAT EMPTOR: LET THE BUYER BEWARE!! I find it disturbing, though, that a theoretically honest business like
...1.) Did not provide me with a better receipt, other than a poorly scribbled carbon copy; 2.) Did not give me any warning(s) about the important need to recharge this watch sufficiently for it's needs; 3.) Made NO mention at time of purchase regarding potential repair needs, and how to properly utilize the warranty; and 4.) Backed away from any further involvement when I brought to their attention that I was having problems with what THEY sold me. Most reputable stores will 'stand behind' what they sell to varying degrees, NOT fail to do so completely, as
did in this case. Even an exchange was excluded as a possible alternative, due to their inflexible policy. My advice to anyone buying anything from them is this: REQUEST A CLEARLY WRITTEN STATEMENT OF EXACTLY WHAT THEY WILL, AND WILL NOT DO, IN ANY AND ALL PURCHASE SITUATIONS. As for Watch Repair USA, they provided a printable proxy form so I could authorize UPS to leave my package (watch) WITHOUT a signature upon delivery. I complete the form, and attached it to my mailbox (condominium lobby). While I was at work, UPS arrived with my watch; the delivery driver IGNORED the form, and left a form of his own, with conflicting, contradictory scribblings, stating that another 'attempt' at delivery would be made the next day...!!! My roommate awakened early, and waited for UPS; she was then FINALLY able to claim my watch (the driver stated that he couldn't leave it the previous time as he couldn't "scan" the proxy form, which Watch Repair USA provided, though this DID NOT HAVE ANY BARCODE TO SCAN...). A couple of weeks later, Watch Repair USA contacted me with a "How Did We Do?" type of survey; I told them exactly how they did, and received NO REPLY OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT...

Depends on the design and how much it is being resized, and if reducing or increasing. For a simple one-size change larger, with a simple circular ring, can be as cheap as $20-30 to heat and stretch it.

If needs to be enlarged more or reduced, then it has to be cut and changed to the size wanted, and fused back together, with new gold or silver if enlarging. Obviously, reducing is cheaper than enlarging as no signficant new metal is needed, and silver is cheaper than gold or platinum because of the six-seven fold difference in the cost of the metals.

Resizing involving cutting probably in the $50-100 range for silver or for reducing a gold ring, enlarging a gold ring with added metal could run $100-250 depending on how large the ring is - a real hefty men's ring will obviously take more metal, so more cost, than a thin wedding band.

You want to consider the value of the ring - a real valuable or antique ring you want to take to a true artisan jeweler who makes and modifies rings in-house - a simple economy ring or simple band you would get a cheaper price probably at a chain store like Zales.

When you drop it off be sure to get a written receipt for it while they work on it (usually unless a simple one-size stretch job, cannot do while you wait), and I would also take a picture or two of it on your cell phone, including a zoom shot of any interior engraving, so if there is any question about whether you got back what you dropped off, you have some proof. Of course, the integrity of the shop is critical.

We dropped off our rings and they were completed within a week. They did an excellent job. Both rings look like they are new. Absolutely amazing. The store is beautiful and they have a wide selection. The staff was very helpful and professional.

To me they cater mostly to middle age and they are expensive I think. Another thing is that you have to pay cash when making a payment in the store, and that is very inconvenient to me. They are women's clothes.

My son bought an engagement ring when he was on leave from Iraq. I put the ring in a safety deposit box and made the payments. Every time I thought I had it paid off they would add more interest on. Three times I was told it was paid off and three times I got a bill after that. I was taking my cheques to directly to

I inherited my father's Rolex Submariner after his passing this last weekend. I wanted to get the watch appraised and placed on our insurance policy ASAP. Found
Hurricane Designer Jewelry Provider Name Locked
and
Hurricane Designer Jewelry Provider Name Locked
via Rolex's website and called them to see if I could bring it in today for an appraisal. They said sure. I then drove 1 hour from my home in Southern Mass to their location in Marlboro. Upon arrival I was told they only appraise watches they themselves sold. They did not tell me about this policy when I called therefore over 2 hours wasted. Only appraising watches that they themselves sell is pointless. As long as the watch is authentic the appraisal process is the same. Where it came from or even how it got into someone's possession has no bearing on how it is appraised or its resultant value for insurance purposes. This is an ignorant, self-serving, "policy".
Spend your money at a jeweler who will be up-front with you and will stand behind their brands. Not this one.

It went well. There was a lot of back and forth trying to pick out the right appliance that I could get for a great price and still look very high end. I decided on a Kitchen
