was hired to re-do my floors. They floors ended up turning out nice, and I liked them, however there were a few issues. As a result of" these issues I learned the company lacks customer service. The first issue was they got stain on my baseboards, and would not do anything about this. They said we signed a notice to customer (which we did) that indicates this would happen. The notice to customer states "some" painting and touch ups may be required. More than "some" were required. In our master bedroom, "some" were required however; in our other two bedrooms major touch ups / painting was required. We ended up putting up shoe molding to cover up the stain. Please see the attached pictures and judge for yourself if these are "some" touch ups. Keep in mind these are only a few pictures - the whole room looked like this. When I questioned the issue to them, they called me absurd, and said I was threatening to degrade their company in a
manner. I later discovered on the Better Business Bureau Web site they like to use that wording in response to their complains. The second issue was wood filler. I noticed a big chunk (see attached) that was applied, and they never told me about this... when questioned in the e-mail they said Yes, your floor required some wood filler, which was applied free of charge, and will dry. This area is still mushy and it has been over a week. why did they not tell me this before / after filling the hole. It looks as if they were trying to cover something up. Third, they are slow to respond to complaints / e-mails, but quick to answer them when coming out for an estimate or to do work. In other words, before you issue the final payment to them, make sure you inspect your floors and baseboards. After paying, basically, you will not hear back from them, and they will leave issues unresolved. Let me guess... Their response to this review will be "It is absurd that a customer would leave such a review like this. They threatened to degrade our company in a
manner.. Well the truth is This is an honest review. Lesson learned. Inspect ALL work prior to issuing the final payment. Oh Yeah, They used the excuse for not replying to e-mails we are closed on the weekends. The e-mails and texts were sent Friday Morning. Lets see if they respond to this and how long it takes them to do so.

"Everything went smoothly when I selected and placed the order for my new carpet.
is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional." He was a great help to me in selecting a beautiful carpet. After the carpet arrived in
, everything went well. The carpet is excellent and the installers were professional and fast in tearing out the old and installing the new carpet.. However, getting the carpet to
was a challenge. The problem was not with
, but with the supplier, who made errors in processing the order, delaying the arrival of the carpet, creating confusion and frustration for everyone. Adding to the frustration was the supplier's apparent lack of desire to expedite the corrections of their mistakes to ensure delivery of the carpet.
was wonderful getting the problems resolved and he kept me informed every step of the way. He went the "extra mile" in customer service, demonstrating to me that he valued me as a customer. I strongly recommend

If you're looking for eco-friendly flooring, research the composition of the flooring, as well as the adhesives and glues.

Wood floor alternatives

Consumers have many choices beyond traditional hardwood floors, including wood laminate and renewable sources such as bamboo, cork and even leather. Some alternatives look virtually the same as hardwoods.

Angie's Answers

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
I agree with your choice - this is about the only product that can realistically, for a large room, be taken out and cleaned up after a flood and reused, thouhg carpet can be if you strip it into smaller pieces to carry wet, AND you have somewhere to wash and dry it - that is usually the problem. However, bear in mind it still has to be done within about 2 days or mildew/mold will grow on it, and may or may not be totally removeable. My personal preferences - mostly because their products are consistent, the joints stay snapped together, and they are not overly soft (a problem with cheap vinyls) are Pergo, Tarkett, Armstrong. Whatever you buy, be sure it can come back apart - some plank products are not made with a self-adhering contact glue in the joints that prevent you from taking it apart again, and some brands their snap design, while maybe better at preventing joint separation, cannot feasibly be unsnapped without tearing or breaking it off. Also, be sure whatever brandname and product line you choose it 100% vinyl (other than the urethane surface protective layer) - many vinyl floor products have paper or fiber cores or other water-absorbing components. Remember that, on concrete, since it wicks soil moisture through it, you till need a 6 mil vapor barrier under the flooring and positively sealed all around the edges to avoid the risk of mold growing on the underside of the vinyl.
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Flooring reviews in Beaver

The guy at
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
in Carmel Mount Ranch, son of the owner (SOO) was friendly and responsive throughout the material selection process. His attitude changed, however, when the grout failed on the newly installed tile floor. Clearly, SOO isn't looking for repeat business from us or referrals. He was rude and grossly unprofessional. The selected tile is light in color, the grout is a dark gray. When mopped, the dark grout bled onto the light tile; the more I mopped, the worse it got. I demonstrated the failed grout to SOO by moistening a paper towel with water and running it along the grout line - grout bled onto the paper towel. SOO was surprised and agreed to investigate. A few days later, he called to say it was my fault because I was mopping the floor with vinegar and water, which I used to clean the previous tile floor with no problem. He gave me a bottle of floor cleaner and a bottle of grout seal. With a brush, I scrubbed the tile and applied the seal; used only the floor cleaner supplied by SOO. The grout continued to bleed onto the tile when mopped. A year later, I couldn't take it any longer and we replaced the tile in the kitchen. The installers of the new kitchen tile, not from
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
, said it was okay to clean the floor with vinegar and water. Tile installed by
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
remained in the entry hall, bathroom and laundry room. After speaking with customer service for the grout manufacturer, who confirmed that - it's okay to clean a tile floor with vinegar and water; grout should not bleed; and, grout can fail, likely because it was mixed improperly, or was old, I called
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
looking for resolution. Again, I demonstrated by running a damp paper towel along the grout line; again, grout came up on the paper towel. I explained to SOO that, may God strike me dead, I was not using vinegar to clean the floor. As we saw no other option, my husband and I wanted to replace the floor. We would purchase the tile, grout and all supplies. We felt it was fair that
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
provide labor. SOO didn't see it that way and was visibly not happy. "I'm super frustrated with you, right now," he said. "I'm not giving you a new floor." He insisted that I'd been using vinegar on the floor because I was unhappy with my tile choice. Trying to convince SOO that vinegar and I were blameless, I repeated the conversation I had with the grout manufacturer rep. He responded that he spoke with a guy in the manufacturer's technical department, who said the grout failed because I was using vinegar, and they are more up on this stuff than "some woman" in customer service. SOO was so nasty that I asked him to leave my house. Before leaving, he offered to replace the grout. This didn't make sense to me. The 1/8th inch grout line, in some places, abuts baseboard and a bathroom vanity. Wouldn't digging it out cause damage? It was clear that SOO was in no mood to discuss it. Relations strained, it became my husband's job to make the arrangements. Eventually, a date was agreed upon and a lighter grout color selected. We reasoned that if the grout bled again, a lighter color wouldn't show as badly on the light colored tile. The installer would clean the tile, remove the existing grout and replace it with the lighter grout, then seal the new grout. The installer, unlike SOO, was very polite and professional. But, evaluating the situation, the installer determined that the 1/8th inch grout line is too narrow for the tool used to remove it and many tiles would be broken in the process. The installer, suggested applying grout renew, a paint that should seal the failed grout. The job was done and we no longer have grout bleeding onto the tile when cleaned - not that SOO or anyone from
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
is asking. It should be noted that the negative ratings apply only to our dealings with the son of the company owner when a problem developed. All tradesmen who did the work in our home were very professional.

are a father and son family business, who are proud of their profession and stand behind the quality of their work. We initially picked poor quality tile at Floor & Decor, it was difficult to cut and was falling off the mesh too easily.
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
immediately pointed out that we might not be satisfied with the result because of poor tile quality and advised to postpone the installation until we get better tile. We returned the tile to the store and got high quality travertine tile with good mesh adhesion.
Beaver Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
rescheduled my install to the next available date. Installation was done very professionally, they covered the floor and all working surfaces, kept the kitchen clean by doing all cuts outside, cleaned up after the work was done. Installation was perfect, the backsplash looks great, all the grouting is neat and clean. I highly recommend

The work was scheduled to take 2 days, but the 2 installers asked if it would be OK to work thru and do it in 1 day. We agreed and they worked without a break and had it finished by 7:30 PM. Once completed they cleaned up the work area, garage included. The finished floor is beautiful, we couldn't be happier with it.

It went well. Crew showed up one afternoon to prep floors and the following morning to install wood. The following weekend the crew returned to ´tune´ wood floors in other areas of my house.

Very nice selection of flooring, good price - they recommend an independent installer, who did a great job.
- Susan M.

The cost was for all material and labor (including the 7" engineering wood, compound to level my not so level wood foundation and all trimming). The owner was pleasant to deal with, the installer was on-time and did a decent job. They glued down the floor instead of floating it. It supposed to reduce the noise. Everything went smoothly....More /> The only thing I'm not completely satisfied with is the quality of the installation. It was not bad but I noticed there were quite a few gaps between the wood panels. Not sure it was because of the installation, or it was because my floor foundation was not level enough.

Excellent from the start to finish.
